Hello, I recently acquired a 1965 Australian Mini. Wasn't exactly what I was looking for as I had fallen in love with the clubman nosed cars. But this car has the mustache grille, the Mk1 doors with roll up windows and quarter vents. Also it was close to me in location and a good price for the car. The previous owner had taken amazing care of it for the past 10 years and rebuilt a lot of it. I'm looking forward to adding my touches to it and driving it every chance I get. As soon as I figure out how to use all of the features on this forum I'll get some pics up. Look forward to chatting with y'all and learning more about these cars.

hi all,
having had an 850 as my first car many (far too many) moons ago, then a Cooper which i sold to buy a ford capri - i know, i know ... I was keen to get another mini, so bought a '93 Mini Cooper but really wanted one much older.
i've now acquire a '71 spanish Authi MiniGT which i'm having converted to rhd. so will probably sell the '93.
The Authi has been modded to look like a Cooper but am puttng back to the original spec - or close to it anyway.
looking forward to meeting up with local enthusiasts.

I just received a mini one 2004 as a Xmas present from my parents. It's silver with a panaoramic sunroof and a full body skirt kit

Evening folks,
I've got a 1998 Mini imported from Japan in June 2016.
It's Volcano Orange, with white roof and bonnet stripes, the V5 is very vague, but I'm pretty sure it's a cooper and it has the sports pack fitted. I love it to bits.
It was inspected for rust by a local mini garage and treated to full under sealing and cavity waxing to Scotland proof it as much as possible just before Christmas and I've a list of things I want to tinker with. Next on the list is a new headliner that will hopefully coincide with replacing the front and rear screen rubbers.

Hi all, I've just joined the forum so I'll introduce myself.
I've owned a 1988 Mini Jet Black since 2005 and it has always been my 2nd car. I joined the Central Mini Owners Club last year (I'm based in Coventry). Membership of a club keeps me motivated to maintain and keep the car in good working order. (photo to follow)
About the Mini.
The car is modified in the following ways.
Mechanics (fitted by - comments)
- 1275 A+ engine from a Metro, (previous owner-original engine was a 998).
- Electronic Ignition (previous owner - I don't know if this is original spec distributor for the Metro block?)
- Twin bore exhaust, (previous owner - too loud so will be replacing with something more modest)
- SU Carb HIF44 fitted (me - to match the engine as I got this car with the wrong carb and it ran horribly)
- New MiniSpares hoses (me)
- Lucas coil (me - to replace the wrong (gold spec Lucas) part which was struggling to start the engine)
- Heavy duty adjustable tie bars (under my ownership - stronger for track days :) )
Cosmetics (fitted by - comments)
- Wide wheel arches over Mini Ultralite wheels (previous owner mod)
- Cobra bucket seats fitted by me (got the car with RS Turbo seats - too big for the car)
Wear and tear replacements (fitted by - comments)
- New grey carpets from MiniSpares (me - also added sound proofing)
- Bilstein Shockers - non adjustable (me - replaced the previous tired Spax adjustables)
- Rear subframe (me - done by Attleborough Mini specialist)
- Battery box (me)
The issues I have with this car are
Misfiring in the cold under load (looking for suggestions - already replaced coil, correct carb, ht leads. Plugs are about 2 years old)
Windscreen wipers are lame (I've fitted some aero style blades which improve this a lot)
Drivers seat is not central to steering wheel (I'll drill some new holes and move the seat to the left a bit)

I have a 1960 Berkeley T60 which has been modified with a Mini engine, sub frame etc so mainly a Mini only a lot smaller and on only three wheels. I won it at an auction about three years ago and I am about to start to get it back on the road with a few mods. It came with an 850 engine but as I have a 1380 A+ begging to be pushed into action, that is what is going in. You may think this a little excessive but having one very similar in the past I know it works very well. The previous one I had for 14 years and about 200,000 miles until we left the road due to some unexpected flood water and used a tree to stop. We parted company James Bond style through the roof (hard top less the trap door). I suffered a couple of minor fractures to the neck and serious nerve damage to my right arm that has never been right since.
This is a link to my latest Berkeley.

If I can get this engine to perform like the last one it will be a very fun car. I will do all the mods that I did before such as LCB, evacusump, hi-los (or just lower it), solid metal engine mounts (racing starts would always break the rubber ones even with the extra ones on), remote gear lever. Last time I had hardiespicer series 2 cooper s shafts and metro disks but I think I will stick to standard shafts and drums (superfins) to keep the cost and unsprung weight down. I will also put in an electric water pump as the engine would run too cold on a long motorway run in winter yet overheat if stuck in traffic after being driven hard.
I look forwards to discussing my progress and getting advice from the experienced people here. I did wonder if engine mounts have improved since 1990 when I changed to solids... advice anyone?

I’m just getting back into Minis after a 10-year break (or is it more?), and TMF seems by far to be the best Mini forum around.
This is my 4th so I wanted to get it right this time. After a long search for a low-mileage, red, carb-fed 1275 (Fussy? Me?) I finally bought a 25,600 single-owner '94 Sprite in excellent condition. The car had been bought from the previous owner by a small bodyshop who repaired the single rust hole in the boot with a new panel and a minor subframe weld, also treating the car to a glass-out respray at the same time (with before and after pics).
The bodyshop added the decals, which aren't in my (big) plans for the car, so a deal was struck for a sale and the car went straight back into the workshop for a few more odd jobs... details to follow. As a base-car for a project I couldn't have found better. Really pleased!
Thanks for having me.

Hi from New Zealand. New to this forum, although I have robbed plenty of tech info off you guys for a few years now
I've owned half a dozen Minis as well as a BMW (don't hate me, it had a blower and went fast) but my current project is...
1976 Leyland Mini Clubman panel van - Australian assembled, NZ new
Flat rear floor, like a pick up, no rear seats
Knight Motorsport Engineering R1 front subframe
Lynx AE diff with equal length driveshafts
Lynx AE electric reverse motor
2003 Yamaha R1 998cc engine
20 valve head, fuel injected, stainless headers, heavy duty clutch, 6 speed g/box
Bosch 044 fuel pump, modified standard van tank, custom fuel lines
5x10 banded steel wheels with Yokohama A032R tyres
Fibreglass Sport Pack arches
Mk1 VW GTi front chin spoiler
Semi sealed Halogen headlights (through relay)
Cooper S 7.5" disc brakes (F) spacered drums ®
Exhaust and re-wiring is next on the long list of things to do.
I can't wait to confuse people out on the road when a 41 year old panel van screams past them at 11500rpm
