Hello everyone,

I have recently bought a 1985 Austin Mini Mayfair in red as my first car. I have spent about 2 months getting it ready for the road however it still needs a lot doing to it (not to mention keeping away the rust!). a few years ago, before i bought it, the owner had fitted twin SU carb's and some other work to the engine, so under the bonnet, its running pretty well. It also has an aftermarket exhaust which makes a bit of a racket and i'm sure the neighbors love it! in these two months i have passed my test and cant wait to get it all ready, MOT'd, Insured, Taxed and ready to go! I'm going to be going to as many shows and meets across Essex and sometimes farther afield. look forward to seeing everyone else's mini's and getting lots of tips and ideas to improve my little car.

Hello,

I have recently been offered a 1993 Mini Sprite auto by by mother in law. It is low milage, around 19000 original with no modifications but it has been off the road for 4 years and for one of these was parked out side so it needs some work.  New sills and a frames are definately required and a new front off side wing and front panel due to rust.  The rest of the car looks good but i am not sure that i have the time to do it up.  A repair garage quoted £750 to do the work.

Any thoughts on just selling it and investing the money in something requiring less work or keeping it and paying to get the work done would be appreciated.

Hi Im steve and live in south lincs (engalnd)

I have had a few minis in the past and I am currently rebuilding a 1975 mini pickup, which has a spi front end that I acquired off a doner vehicle, the spi is all new to me so will be looking through he many posts for help with the rebuild

currently it will not turn over on the key, im not sure if it has a immobiliser? it did all run  ok when I purchased it, but its been stood in my workshop for ten years with out even being uncovered, so I do have lot of connections to check before I really start to panic,

I have had to make mods to the tank for flow, return, and a breather, the exhaust comes pretty close to the tank (40mm) but hopefully using the Teflon wrap will stop it getting too hot

will speak soon guys

Hi, I'm Jazz.

I'm just in the process of buying a 1985 Mini Ritz. Its not in the best state and I'm looking to reform it back to it's former glory. So any tips and tricks are much obliged!

Hello all. I'm new to the forum. I have two minis; an '86 modified 1275cc and '67 mk1 850deluxe which I'm restoring at the moment. I've read many posts on here and look forward to learning and hopefully contributing in the future.

Hi, I have just bough a 1961 mini van that's been in a shed for the last 30 years. I have a big question that I am hoping someone can help me with. I would love to restore this myself (I have done minis in the past, and a qualified mechanical engineer!) but also now im a little older and wiser wonder if it would be better to get it restored professionally? Appreciate any experiences you have on this...  Tom
