Hi,

I am a very new owner of a 1989 Sky Rose.

I have wanted a mini all of my life and now I have one.

I have ambitious plans for my precious (some formed, some half-formed and some I haven't even thought of yet). I definitely need a new door because the rust has gone right through to the frame. There are a few surface rust spots and the A panel on driver's side has to go.

At the moment Precious is a metallic royal blue with black roof and black stripes and I am not sure about keeping the colour, respraying or wrapping, but, have discovered everyone has an opinion on what the colour should be; hub says candy red, white roof with white stripes, daughter says love the colour keep it, MIL say our mini was red with black roof (so it def won't be that), sons' co-workers random strangers all feel as though I would benefit from their opinion on colour but it just leaves me confused. My hub is getting carried away; flip front (maybe) angel headlights(perhaps) light bar and I have said I want to make it sound before I even think of these things or my house will be filled with mini parts that aren't ready to  be fitted and if I don't find a reasonably priced drivers door I don't know when I will be ready. I hate the seats ( turquoise blue with PINK tartan inserts... I am not that girl) but I am not sure if I want covers or completely new seats.

I want to put in a bigger engine (currently small), new grille, better exhaust etc. Oh and new dash, headliner, carpets.

Now hub wants a mini too but has murdered one in the past (19 yrs old and left it up-ended in a field!!)

Neither of us know anything about car repairs or building, so it is going to be an expensive project.

I don't care because I own my dream car!!!

1984 mini 25

Bought last week and realised it's too low to drive over speed humps. Renew the suspension me thinks!

I've bought a rusty 1993 mini 1275 cooper. Just ventured into putting hilos on the front! What a job. AND I thought the backs were hard. Easy now I know how. The front ball joints are stuck and the rubber stops on the off side fell off. Yes another job. It's a good challenge. I've just joined this website so I'm sure I'll be back soon for help as im learning as I go.

1997 Cooper with a sportpack and a Union Jack roof. Nowt outrageous but she has been personally signed by John Cooper, Paddy Hopkirk, Alec Poole and Eddie Izzard on the bonnet and visors which I just love to bits.
