Hi All,

Just bought a South African Built 1974 Mini GTS - as a personal project and just love the little devil.

  • 10" wheels/rims - look similar to cosmic but cant find them on the wheels directory
  • has the original 7.5" disk brake and assembly
  • modified - cam
  • 1380 re-bore - done a year ago according to previous owner
  • performance branch and pipes
  • 2nd oil inter-cooler / radiator

Plans:

  • Need to replace valves, guides, and seals, (smoking white/blue and more so when on heavy throttle when warm)
all compression is good and no oil leaks on outside of engine.
  • Replace all hoses and brake master cylinder
  • remove minor rust in usual places i.e. roof gutter, then new custom respray as well as boot and engine bay
  • re-chrome all bumpers
  • replace back side windows, they are a bit scratched up
  • has twin SU may move to single weber
  • refurbish wheels / rims maybe colour code with a powder coat
  • refurbish interior, not bad shape but could have been done a lot better i.e. the required PSI, temp gauges required when running a performance engine Which means new dash to start

That is all the wallet will take for the next few months.

Thanks

Daxie

I have a 1988 Mini Jet Black, at the moment is has standard everything, all original body panels.

I plan to swap in a 1275, stage one kit and go from there.

Any help is appreciated as I have the resources to change parts but not the knowledge.

Bought a 1971 mk3. It's been on a hell of a journey from its original home, it now sits in my garage slowly being restored, seem to always be revealing problems luckily non of them are serious major problems.

Donald Ross

I purchased a 1964 Mini a few years ago, the original owner had passed away and I bought it from his Daughter, the car was originally picked up in the UK when the family were living in Europe, it is left hand drive and originally had a Kilometer odometer I believe, it now has the regular speedo head and I have been slowly getting it back to road worthy condition, new rear sub-frame, hydraulics etc. etc

I am about to purchase Tyres for it and undecided whether to fit a set of minilites as the wheels are a bit bashed around and not sure if it is worth putting new tyres on and then find that the wheels are not worth keeping!!

This is my 1988 Mini Mayfair with a 1275 motor, 13x6 mini lites runs well fun to drive too

I dunno terribly much about Minis but it needs the shocks doing and the rear radius arm needs looking at and the engine mounts and ball joints too and second gear apearantly needs doing sooner then later the Mini guy said in case he can still use bits from the old stuff.

I drive a 55 plate cooper and I've had the jcw kit put on. I really want the fogs in the grill but struggling to source some. Anyone know which ones are the best to get?
