I have a standard mini city e 998 :) little blue. Shes a right old madam. The interior is completely original except the steering wheel ( has beautiful navy decor and then the crap late 80's early 90's grey plastic steering wheel) so i replaced for a smaller leather period steering wheel. Absolutely rot free ( maintaining is a pain. every time surface rust starts to show its ugly head out comes the sanding block and the rust remover and the primer) however, she had the front driver wing replaced by previous owner and although the welding is fine, the respray was crappy. So rather than respray i am spending countless hours over several months compounding and polishing and waxing and getting a brilliant shine finally. might sound anal, but the bonnet needs moving down slightly ( doing work on the engine has caused some paint on the sill to be scratched and will need patching up :( ) and the drivers door is scraping slightly so that hinge needs tightening. The boot needs a respray also, just from general wear and tear. But she is beautiful. Looks older due to the colour scheme. She has the chrome grille rather than her original crappy grey plastic trimmings, which help with the older style. Tech wise, she has needed alot of work for a car bought under advice that she was "sound". Exhaust has been reclamped and sealed. Full services obviously. Coolant was so degraded it needed a complete change. Needed timing resetting, all of the wiring was so old that it has basically needed rewiring. And most recently. Needed about 30 hours to fit a simple flipping aldon ignitor :P figures

Hi I'm Mav just recently picked up a 05 mini one convertible. My very 1st one. Only snag someone has manged to smack the drivers wing mirror on the way to work so was wondering where I can pick up a reasonable one with a chrome back has to be complete (R52 - I think sorry just getting used to finding all the terminology) I've only just managed to pay for it :shy:  Engine has been upgraded to match Cooper with sports pipe and new alloys. Apart from that oh and front 2 fogs she is standard. Love the sound and my son loves it when the roof is down (managed 3 times so far in this weather!) when I take him to footie.

I have two snags which I would like help on please . Firstly the driver door will not open from inside but have to open externally. The central lock works OK. It seems that maybe a cable is snapped. How much would this cost to fix? Looking at forums it seems 2 hours work and a cost of about £80 for the parts. Secondly she has a very low mileage for the year and it seemed to be very well looked after (until I got my hands on her) but I noticed I'm going through alot of antifreeze yet I can not find a leak. Any pointers would be excellent. I hope to post better pictures once she washed again. The country roads I have to travel on are giving her body a not to wonderful look - sorry :( Having ridden 2 wheels for most of my life) I'm enjoying the drive of my little beauty especially with the roof down. Always wanted one as I'm a 6T's child. Would love to sort these little gripes out ready for the summer UK weather that we will get back!

Ive been on the forum a while but never owned a mini personally until last weekend.

I purchased a very well looked after Cooper Sport 500.

I will try and get some photos at the weekend if the weather is good.

Just got a 1998 Mini Cooper Sport, in racing green, what else! Runs like a charm, some new parts on it, looks lovely too, just a fingernail-sized spot of rust on the whole thing. Just use it to get to work and back Saturdays and Sundays, won't get the mileage up too high ;-)

Had it for a little over a week now. Came home today to find one of my fog lights (the ones attached to the front grille, I had two) smashed, supports and all. No other bodywork damage in sight.

I guess Jerry would just have been too perfect if nothing had happened to him... :P
