Hi all, first post as a new member. Former owner of a year 2000 'X Reg' Mini Cooper Sport (still breaks my heart but had to sell at the time!) I'm viewing a 1999 Cooper 1.3 wich looks exactly the same, Tahiti blue, electric roof, wide wheels/arches etc, all except that the dash is walnut and cream leather interior. My previous had the alloy dash with black/silver seats. Can anyone clarify, by my description, if the '99 version is a 'Sport'?
Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure the Sports had CooperSport on the boot. It could be a Cooper S Touring (again should have a decal) Cooper S Sport 5 (5 speed gearbox and decal) or even a Mini 40 which they did make in Tahiti blue. If no distinguishing features it's probably just a bog-standard Cooper.

Cheers for replying fella! Pictures looked impressive, but none really close up and interior pics blurry.

So took a chance after phone conversation with seller, who assured no rust whatsoever, immaculate throughout etc.

As soon as me and the missus got there we knew it was a dud. Rusty, grubby, poor alterations, damp! Spent £400 on train fares from Newcastle to Kingston and back. Costly mistake!

I'll strive to reclaim a Tahiti Blue Cooper Sport though!
Cheers again.

I knew I was gonna get grief for posting that sooner or later  :D

Some of the new ones are truly huge.  I parked next to one the other day and it dwarfed my Golf.

Wrong.

Just wrong.

Thought we had bought a 1972 Mini 850 off ebay only to find it had an 1100 engine. No worries will enjoy the project all the same and maybe change engine back to original eventually.

My son got to drive it off the trailer back in December and with a very smokey engine and flat tyres and it was in bits before I got to have a go.

Restoration well underway now.

Hi, I recently bought a 1997 mini cooper mpi. My plan is to put on the sports pack arches and different wheels. I do not know much about parts or fitting parts. So I am hoping someone can steer me in the right direction.

Got a 94 sprite white with red roof was sprayed like this before I got it, no mods all original apart from a mountney steering wheel, just put on new wings and front panel, waiting for paint on bonnet to dry but should be ready for this weekend, next is some nice wheels then enjoy driving it for a while to save up funds for further work hopefully lots of shiny bits and lights.  :highfive:

Also have a 84 auto Mayfair in garage a project yet to start.
