Hi i am a newbie to the minis.

Just purchased a 1992 rover mini open classic with 69000 genuine mileage on the clock.

Looking to start some maintenance/restoration work but dont know where to start.

I think theres a very slight oil leak dripping down to sump and the brakes are really stiff (dont know if this is normal)

I don't really drive a Mini anymore. :shy: though there are three on my drive!!

Until recently daily driver was wife's '97 MPI Cooper
About 4 years ago I turned my daily drive '94 Black Monte Carlo into a weekend warrior
When my son was born we treated 'him' to a 1969 Morris Mini Traveller which i sympathetically restored about a year ago!!

Now all except the Hillclimber hardly get out anymore.....need to do something about that.

Owned Minis since before I could drive...

Does your Hillclimber have a CF front and 12" D1's? It was the car that made me hunt for a set of 12" d1's when I first saw pics of it about a year ago, finally got a set of genuine ones last week! :teehee:

Yes ! it's Fun driving a Mini since 1992 the first ever Mini I drove everyday When I finish this one last September. ! I never have oil leaks at the floor garage and with A/c you can't go wrong. It's like driving a Honda on a Mini body and 5 speed is not an option!. I believe I have perfected the D15 conversion with all Honda Parts, By the way even the front brakes are Honda and so as the back plates. Here is my frame laser cut , mandrel bended and powder coated.

and with the engine mounted

My conversion doesn't need front nose extension and wheel base of the Mini is standard, You could still have aligned to your local auto shop with the standard Rover specs. Here is my one off client

hi, I have just registered to The Mini Forum, I'm not old enough to drive yet but I have just got my GCSE exam results and my parents were so happy that they brought me my first car. It's a 1989 Austin Rover mini Thirty in cherry red ... the first owner named it CLIFF so I decided to keep the name. I have always wanted a limited edition classic mini and the thirty seemed perfect with its half leather interior and other subtle differences. When we got him, he was in a bit of a state but he is 22 years old and he has never been touched before, everything is original (even the back speakers which are so cool) apart from the 12inch 50TH anniversary wheels, which is a bit of a shame as it previously had the original factory fitted alloys, but they really do suit the car!! but the spare wheel is still original. I am in the middle of completely dismantling CLIFF to replace all of the rotten panels, under seal the whole car and give him a full respray, I'm going to stick with the cherry red as I am trying to keep as much of the mini thirty in standard condition but I will be adding stainless steel wipers and jet nozzles and wing mirror plinths. I want to add a stage one kit to the 998cc engine but I am on a limited budget, is it worth spending around £200 on a stage 1 kit or would it be better to spend this money else where?
