household hifi equipment runs at 8 ohms
but two 8 ohms speakers wired in parallel make 4 ohms if that helps

i have just bought this amp maybe to run in brige mode
will i do any damage or is the amp big enough
tho old system was 25 watt with 16 ohms
i want it loud, but not so loud to upset the regional chime squad

If the impedance of the driver is greater than that of the amplifier, then that is safe, but the amplifier will not be able to provide as much power.

Unfortunately it will be a little underpowered, but shoudl be ok, just make sure you don't clip the signal, that would damge it.

Haway ice doctors show me the way to go, its getting done on monday if i need to buy more gear lets here it.

and not all home hifi kit is 8 ohms
and not all pa kit is any ohmage
all stuff is interchangable, wired and chosen correwctly for the best situation.
Just use a powerful car amp and you will be fine
wiring two 8 ohm speakers in parallel would produce a 4 ohm load for an amp
wiring two 4 ohm speakers in series would give a 8 ohm load
amps desingned to run at any ohmage, will run better, longer, and more reliably at a higher ohmage
go for a more powerful amp than you think you need, run at a lower gain setting, and a higher ohmage and the amp wont clip, overheat, or fail as soon

Received the amp won on ebay and reading through the book it can run 4 to 8 ohms anyway.
I wired it to a battery and wired the pa horn in bridged mode, according to the book it gives 200watts this way.
I don't intend to run it full power and may wire it on one channel.
The test run was hilarious

Wired every thing up and powered it up. I didn't have the chimes mechanism with me, its like a wind up music box with a pick up coil on it. So I decided to improvise and cut off one of the earphones off a hands free kit and wire it to the rca input.
I think I have set a new world record for the loudest mobile phone ring. The nokia tune of course. I should make a vid and post it on youtube. People looking out of windows, dogs barking and kids crying.

Bearing in mind the ice cream man only had 25 watts I think its a good result . People will need triple glazing now.
