Hi Everyone
I found this on ebay UK and was wondering about its history.

Item No. 130064891555

Does anybody know any information about these tool boxes. How rare are they and when were they orignally released, and with what?

Thanks

(sorry don't know how to do a link)

They were in the accessory brochure for the twinpoint Mini. I don't remember them being available before that so they were probably just done for the twinpoint launch. That would make them available from '96 to 2001. Really nothing too special apart from the box (if you like that sort of thing). There's probably still a few of them knocking around at Mini Spares or Mini Sport if you PHONE AND ASK (don't try the website). The brochure (I just happen to have one here) describes it as '...unique as it contains selected tools specially designed for servicing Mini parts'. However it doesn't contain any of the Rover special tools selection AFAIK and it just looks like a standard tool set to me. In fact I'm sure the same kit was available for the MGF in a similar box with the MG logo and held the exact same selection of pretty crappy tools. And for Land Rover too. The tools are a little bit Draper quality sadly but you could always replace them with beter stuff if you get the box. I think the box was available bare as well at the end of production when they were selling off the old junk. How much it cost then I don't know but don't go getting ripped off for it, it's just a tool box.

And it's Mini, not Cooper. Made by Rover and badged Mini, not badged Mini Cooper and not a product of John Cooper Garages either.

if it went for that much then someone has been seriously ripped off, I've seen them around and there really not worth it.

i may be wrong but i think John Cooper may have done something similer a while back and his ones are worth a fair bit of money, but i don't think that's one of them.

PS: hello toot toot, is that you Lotte?? welcome to TMF

EDIT: just checked it out (heres the link..)

well i cant believe it went for that much, i'm truly gobsmaked... what a rip off.

Well I know John Cooper provided a nice box with Cooper logos and stuff on it for his 1980's Mini conversion kits! :D

Given the selection of tools in them, I would say they are worth about £40.00 at most.

£256! Man, someone could have spent that money on something actually worth having! I do seem to remember either Minispares or Minisport doing a toolkit that was VERY similar not so long ago. :D

well, my tool kit has about twice as many useful tools in it, and only set me back £25... it's used almost every day, and none of it's broken yet, so was a pretty good buy :xxx:

if I put a mini sticker on the box to make it like that one, could i sell it for a small fortune? :(

Tom
