There is a company that produces kits to fit bike carbs to minis.
yours looks great, i love it... be interested to see how it changes the car for better or for worse.

When i was looking it this conversion Bogg Brothers name came up. I gave them a call but they hadn't done a mini before and were after a lot more money than I was prepared to pay for a manifold, when it may or may not improve things over the Weber. Saying that if you don't have access to the facilities to do the machine work required then it may well be easier for you

very very interested in this, even if it doesnt have any improvement over the webber, how much were the carbs?? where from, im very intereted, they have to be more adjustable than a webber for part throttle i would imagine!

I believe they will give more power as they are 40mm whereas the weber is only 34 by the time you take into account the chokes on the weber
The design of the carbs is very similar to an SU with the dashpot and needle but they also have primary and (I think) secondary adjustable jets which means on part openings you can finely adjust mixtures which will give better running and improved fuel economy - as much as I like the sheer noise of a weber it gets to you after a while as does the fuel bill. Don't want to remember the number of times I filled up on the way down to the Riv run last year!
I got the carbs from one of the internet site which does part searches as it worked out cheaper than the devils own ebay and I could drive local to pick them up to check the condition which although not to clear in the photos they look as if they have done about 2000 miles, very very clean.
Carbs cost me £70 including all the rubber mounts to the engine and to the airbox and airbox included - you can pay silly money off ebay and they dont come with all the bits or as clean. You need to be sure what size of carbs you are getting as there are loads out there which are 34mm / 36mm not many at 40mm - apparently blackbird carbs are 42mm but try finding some for sensible money!

I dont think it will be that hard to make multiple manifolds once you have the carbs spaced out enough to be inline with each inlet port.
If i had a AC tig welder id give it ago
Im guessing your inlets are steel?

my 40 webber has some aparant rare chokes in it stamped 38 for 38mm but stil i just want performance, noise cant be that different in a bike carb and if it was i wouldnt care if it made beter power acros the whole rev range. im lookin at using megajolt too so the tps would come in very very handy.
i take it the parts for adjustment are available via the internet!!

Ed - yes not that hard if you have the equipment and skills required which you no doubt have, others may not, but to space the carbs you would I reckon also need a lathe to make up the fuel 'rail' part not impossible by any means
If the carbs were spaced then the manifolds would be easier to make but then thats offset by the extra work involved in spacing them
Yes inlets are steel
If you mean needles & jets etc then yes they are all available via internet

Really got me thinking this thread
been turning over all posibilitys of bike carbs and have come to the conclusion of these!! they be tdm850 carbs which is a twin, so should do away with having to cut them down?38mm so not a bad size. anyone know if they would work?
