the only way to ever get a sprint was to get a cut down one made by neville and his buddies by the looks of it

Steel Minisprints:
The trend for Minisprints was kinda started by a couple of Mini racers in the 60's (Geoff Thomas and Neville Trickett). They (I think Geoff's suggestion originally) did it by cutting bands out of steel shells. The idea was (as said before) to streamline the mini a little. By removing the seams and also altering the rake angle of the screen, aerodynamics were improved. Also handling would be very slightly better because of a very slightly lower CofG and less weight (minimal difference realistically).
Stewart and Arden garages also offered sprints, I believe their version was a steel shell with squarer headlights (looked a little strange) and it was cut down from a steel shell.
Plastic:
Minus anyone? Similar idea, different looking though. Hawk cars and later Rally Sport replicas offererd GRP srints, which used your donor mini and a GRP monocoque to produce a sprint. There weren't that many Sprints made, I think the Minus was more popular. I think there was also the Domino HT, that had similar proportions but was a different shape slightly.
IF someone were to offer a sprint shell made out of carbon composite. I believe it would have the same aerodynamic advantages of a steel shell, but would be stiffer and lighter.
I am also confused about this garage full of minis, are they for the chop or was that a random pictrure. If they are for the chop, are they beiung done as a fullkit with subframes, steering rack etc? Or are they going to be sold as a shell only?
