If you are planning on putting an engine in Jack, why not get it reconditioned before you do it? You can still drive the car round and when the engine is built just put it all together. That way you know everything is right with the engine and you can do any mods to it easier as well.

That was kind of my plan :)

Was going to get hold of all the Suzuki bits, another front subframe and front of a buggered mini shell and make it all using that, so that I have less to do when putting it in my car, which means I still have it to drive.

Or I could just buy something new and boring. But thats just silly.

Anyway, sorry for theiving the topic, please carry on, I want to see it finished!!!

edit- budget... well, I guess a donar car is 3-4-500 unless I fetch that £100 one with the head off.

I can weld and Im a pretty good spanner monkey, so I guess it will come down to what parts I buy to do it really.

Anymore progress??

I think I've just secured a deal for a 1991, 84k, Swift GTi, runner, for £200.

Hoping to go and collect it one night next week!

Well the wiring is pretty much finished (mainly just the lights to sort when we get the front), so once we have swapped the fuel pumps over and a few other little bits it should run, then we have a few other bits before its driveable.

Well the inner wheel wells have been painted with the under seal, and are looking good. Oil has gone into the engine. Ed is off to give a deposit on the fibre glass to get made. Also he will be stopping at MBE Race engines to get the filter and plate. Ordered some new hoses finally. Have to empty the fuel tank to put in pump. Pictures to come.

Dont mean to interupt, but Im really keen on the idea of putting one of these suzuki power plants in my mini, I prefer it over any of the v-tec and vauxhall transplan options. The problem is is that I stay all the way in South Africa, and for the life of me cant think where I would be able to get hold of one of these engines as the car was never sold here. Can anyone point me in the right direction where I would be able to get the G13b engine at a reasonable price?
