Pump isnt in the tank, it has been fitted to the pump holder which needs to be swapped with the one currently in the tank plus needs the wires connecting.
Have built the ecu, so now its onto wiring the car, and running all the sensors to the relay board.
If i dont get slowed by anything it might be possible to turn the engine over with the starter (but not start it) by the end of the weekend.

I thought it was going to be done for Bingley hall? :D

Nah, the work you two have done on this is brilliant! Any idea on when it will be done or is it just when it gets there?

When it gets there lol. We aren't to far from finishing eds sorted most of the wiring, so most of the stuff now is the snagging jobs. Thanks miniallsort all the credit has to really go to ed! I did what i could to help. After a sort out in the garage this weekend, we should have some more space to get the front end in. Then we can make a start on that.

I've been closely watching this, as well as emailing Ed aload of questions.

Really impressed, I'm hoping to do a Suzuki conversion on mine, Ideally I'd like it in before summer rolls in.

Finding it hard to soure a GTi, where do you pair get yours from?

I know of a really scruffy one, but its a non runner, the heads off, and the current owner doesn't know why the previous owner took it off. Im in 2 minds to go and fetch it, its only 100 quid, and I could get lucky with a new HG and a few checks and it running fine...

I got mine from a car breakers yard on ebay (bad idea, bits missing) and had it palleted.
James got his (everything we thought we needed) from a guy breaking a few swifts, who i found on ebay (he was in scunthorpe so we drove and picked it up).
Ebay is probably the best bet for finding engines (unless you have a big scrappy near you), but its also good to search for "Swift GTI breaking" (1 on ebay now as well as an engine) or just buy a whole car and break it yourself.

Yep, we've both done the head gaskets, need an 8mm allen key/socket for the bolts,
got the head gasket kits (comes with other gaskets for bits on the head as well as cam and valve stem seals) from ebay for £30 as well as a new timing belt.
