Today we finally started the conversion that has been planned for some time,
(finally got enough time off to do it)

The plan is to fit a Swift GTI engine into a standard front end, the engine will be standard for now.

Frame has already been made to an extent that the engine can fit in it, but it still needs welding and engine mounts etc need making.

Today we stripped the front and fitted the frame ready to sit the engine in and make the mounts.
We took the old front off in 1 piece so we can use it to make sure the engine fits under the standard front.

Put the car in the garage ready to start the cutting:

Subframe and engine removed complete:

New frame bolted on:

Slight clearance problem with the nuts for the RHD accelerator pedal:

Tomorrow we will have the frame fitting better (removing the nuts)
and remove some other bits off the bulkhead, and sit the engine in place.

Now then lets set a few things straight here! I dont claim to know how you build a mini and im not affraid to ask for help lol. Now im busy pretty much all year round with my job and it leaves me no time to start a project like this. Its only because ive been made semi redundant that, we have chance to do it. And it has to be finished by the start february!

You see ed has come out off uni has no job and can do pretty much anything with his mini as you have seen! I've paid for tools that we both use, oils, fuel, and other things to. I do pay him, for things that he's done! And when we drive to shows i dont ask for money to pay for fuel. He is showing me how to do things and im helping him in other ways. And i started the topic, it's just it was on his computer and the pics were on it! SO THERE LMAO :gimme: we should have more pics tomorrow.
