Rev limiter sounds so intense, liite pricey but still ace. what else does it do for your engine? Stop having cool things for your car Jetblick, now i want them:D

Ashleys got launch control on his clubby - he's only ever used it once apparently because it scared the :genius: out of him, lol

To be fair if i was catapulted from a standing start with 100 odd hp - i'd be scared too :(

Launch control works like a momentary rev limmiter. You first set you're rev limmit, so say on mine, it'll be at 7000rpm. This stops the engine over revving and destroying itself by quickly cutting the occasional spark from the coil. This is useful if you keep you're foot planted for too long in a gear, or ..... lets say ....... for example ...... you're beaning down back roads and go for 3rd gear, from 4th, but you accidentally get 1st in you're JK dog box  (pie should know what im talking about)

Now, launch control is like having another rev limmit. Say i set my launch control to 4000rpm - i push a button on the steering wheel and plant my foot at traffic lights and the revs wont go above 4000rpm. The idea is to find the perfect RPM level for the launch control, which is in between the car bogging down off the lights and car wheelspinning. Once you find the perfect RPM, you set that as ur level for launch control, and now you can always get good starts.

Obviously the only flaw with this is the launch RPM is going to be different if the roads are wet/damp/dry/frosty etc etc.

BUT - the main reason for launch control is simply the noise, it makes the car go 'waaaaaaaa-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba' :w00t:

so it does launch control and rev limiter...they're kinda the same thing once i think about it. and you get the kick ass sound...better than a blow off valve i think. then with the ram pipes it'll sound good....but i have to upgrade my tranny then :( money!you give me too many ideas dan

naa i don't rekon u'd have to uprate the gearbox. Mines just a GT gearbox, no stronger than any other, just got it for the closer ratios.

Meh - my theory is - just do it, then work around the consequences after. I'm one of those, 'make it up as you go along' kinda engineers. Then do the technical drawings after :(

Oh trust me, i've waited a long time to be able to do all this, and this is an accumulation of years of dreaming :w00t: It never ends tho, you'll always think of something else, or another idea.

mmmmmm can u tell im bored today, answering every other post

really interested in this but all the rev limiters i had seen were smooth cut ones, have you heard one of the omex ones fitted to a car yet? i guessed they would just not let it rev any more rather than giving that noise.

also with the launch control, how do you disengage it after 'the off' do you have to press the button again to let the revs rise?

its only a momentary switch mowog, you hold it to lower the revs, as soon as you let go, its back to normal. And the omex system has the option of smooth or harsh cut. I'll be honest i havn't heard what its like on a mini, but theres only one way to find out.....
