oh, and for jackman and others who like engine failures.... this is what happens to a std 998 piston at 8000rpm when you time your 286 cam in wrong....

Personally, going on what little experience I have with building engines, I'd be inclined to agree with mini13. However, what spec are the pistons? Were they anything special?

The good thing about not wrecking the block, is that i can still sell it in an effort to claw back some of the money the engine owes me. I wont be needing it as im doing something slightly different in my new motor - but thats all hush hush for now, should be done in plenty of time for BH2N tho

Ooh, by the way, thanks to racing green who replied to my wanted post for a cheapo 998, its now in the car and running fine, getting me about... if not dreadfully slowly! i put my ultralight flywheel and s/c 'box on it, its well funny.... valve bounce at 6200rpm!
