oh, and for jackman and others who like engine failures.... this is what happens to a std 998 piston at 8000rpm when you time your 286 cam in wrong....

The 10's look cool I'm glad they went to a good home. Shame about the engine.

Dam. If you were going to break a 1071s you could have at least done it in style like the other guy did in Mini Chat a month or so ago! :D

Personally, going on what little experience I have with building engines, I'd be inclined to agree with mini13. However, what spec are the pistons? Were they anything special?

 I know. Poor effort, must try harder, C-

The good thing about not wrecking the block, is that i can still sell it in an effort to claw back some of the money the engine owes me. I wont be needing it as im doing something slightly different in my new motor - but thats all hush hush for now, should be done in plenty of time for BH2N tho

If at first you dont succeed, try more power!

Ooh, by the way, thanks to racing green who replied to my wanted post for a cheapo 998, its now in the car and running fine, getting me about... if not dreadfully slowly! i put my ultralight flywheel and s/c 'box on it, its well funny.... valve bounce at 6200rpm! :w00t:

Cheers :proud: Nowt really going on im afraid, been busy working an stuff. I got the beginnings of a new motor, but the spec keeps changing, i got a rough idea of where its heading, but i'll reveal all when its finished. Unfortunatly, it wont be ready for BH2N tho, so its gonna be 998 all the way! :shifty:

The 1071 was broken up and the parts that could be salvaged where all sold off to fund bits for the new motor. Same with the 998 too, it was all broken down and sold off to fund the old 1071. The new motors coming along slowly, all will be revealed in time - it's still gonna be something a bit quirky :(
