I prefer the all metal one. Think the red leather bit looks messy.

I think the red breaks it up a bit, makes it look purposeful.

I like the red, but i would glue it to the metal so its completely flat, and do it behind the switches as well.
But then i would possibly go with just the metal, or black behind the clocks/switches so it almost looks like the original setup.
