First, moved to technical...

second, you can change the engine number on the v5 anyway, so your power plant is upto your own discretion...

the max possible BHP is dependant on the engine you start with

get like 75-80 odd BHP from a 998, just costs a hell of alot at that point.

More cost effective to get a 1275 and rebored it to 1380.

I mean copaired with trying to make a high bhp 998.

Althought no more satisfying thing than telling someone who's been destroyed by your mini that you only have a 998.

Just A Quick Note, Again As I've Said Before To Someone Else On The Forum. It's Good Having A Nice Sizeable Bhp Output, As Long As You Have The Torque To Match, Torque Is The Difference Between Accelerating Fast And Accelerating Really Really Fast...

gotta think of insurance if you want to drive it as a first motor and also supercharging a 998 will cost a lot and if you fluff up there are not many places you can take it.

costly decision

I'd be very suprised if you could get a weber to anything but overfuel on a 998, even with the block completely bored out to the limit of the firing rings a weber on a 998 is fairly useless and a complete waste of effort and time, especially when a single, well set up SU HIFF44 will be good for anything up to around the 170ponies mark!

** ok i'll edit that.... it wouldn't be a COMPLETE useless setup becuase it'll at least make a pretty noise. But it is a waste of time and effort IMO **

As Retro Said, A Webber Is Going To Do F##k All To Your 998. So Stick With Su's, If The Tuning Is Spot On A Coulpe Of Su's Should Be Fine.

A 40 DCOE webber will work on a highly tuned 998, just as well as a 45 DCOE webber will work on a highly tuned 1275/1330/1380, etc.

I think your main problem will be insurance, being on 16, you'll not be able to touch the engine (apart from maybe a stage 1 kit), until your at least 19, or expect to pay well over £1500 on insurance!
