Nah, I welded the inner wings back on. There's a bit trimmed off the infill at the bottom of them, but basically it's nothing structural.

I talked to VOSA and the DVLA about exactly how I proposed to do it (all via email, with pics/sketches of what would be removed from the inner wings to make it fit) and they were happy that all I needed to do was provide a receipt for the engine, the new engine number and also a receipt for the engine rebore that I had done to confirm the new capacity. So, no IVA was carried out on this one. All of the paperwork is present and correct and all that jazz.

But, it's probably still the sort of thing that could be down to someone's own discretion.

I'm thinking about selling it now though, but I aint got the foggiest what it's worth.

I dunno if I've put piccies on here, don't really use the site anymore.....

But, here she is from the last time I took piccies of her:

She no longer has the chrome gutter trim, as that came off at about 90 one day, oops. But other than that she's OK, just a bit tatty in the body work (but she is over 40 now).

How much would I get if I threw in one of these?

Update: New MOT two weeks ago. Sorted. Trip to Retro Rides Gathering. Sorted. More tweaking. Yet to come.

Real good engine conversion though. Pulls well. Sounds lovely. Pulls away from a LOT of other cars pretty easily. Might hit Stanford hall in September, then maybe Combe too.

I'm lovin it now though. :D

Oh, then I balanced the TBs using an old Gunsons Carbalance dealy.

I've put a Canems ECU in it anorl, which I actually think is grrrrrrrrrrrrreat, got loads of option. I also put a wideband lambda sensor in it and a Techedge 2J2 controller for schtuff and giggles.

Theeeeeeeeen, I started mapping it.

And mapping it, balancing it, mapping it, balancing it, mapping it.......

Something not right, not at all.... compression test carried out on freshly built engine.........

Oooopsies

Cylinder 1 was 16 bar
Cylinder 2 was about 13 bar
Cylinder 3 was about 10 bar
Cylinder 4 was just under 8 bar.

Ooopsies, the engine workshop (that is now no longer trading) had a bit of an incident with skimming the block, so out came the rebuilt C16XE, and in went a 55k mile X16XE bottom end.....

And then:

Bit better sounding, so more balancing and mapping and stuff required.........tedious!

So, I got it back on the road and got it MOTd with the new engine in it....then drove it to the Retro Rides Gathering, which was great...

The morning before the drive down there:

Bwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarp!

It's not like I've thrashed it yet. It's quick, this video was taken when I'd first got a map that wasn't bogging down too much, but I've done a load more tweaking since and it's far pokier in the mid range now.

Love the 10" GB's
Uhh, kinda got a picture at rrg

Spent a lot of time watching the track action and rushed looking at the show cars a bit, and I seem to subconsciously skip over minis at mixed show as I see so many everywhere else :shy:

Mine was right at the bottom of the field with the 12" Gb/Cosmic combo :P
