Today, I have been playing with wiring diagrams! :S

I have decided to use the sportpack style dash in there. I'm not sure about it to be honest, but I've got it and can take it out later for a different style dash if I really don't like it. I have drawn up a wiring diagram so I can make a conversion loom nice and easy. I'd really like to go for a works Cooper stye dash (60's style) but this is just alot easier for now.

Piccy of the dash, siped from other project thread:

Top job mate, its coming along nicely in the way you want it to.
Will have a look at it in the flesh when i collect my bits (hopefully by the weekend)
Why dont you fit fiesta calipers under your 10's? Im doing some now for a mate in our club, some more pics in the thread running in in thew projects section.
Im more than willing to sort anything out for you?

Cheers

Hmm, not sure about the Fester calipers. Hadn't really considered them to be honest, though I could run vented 7.9" disks on XR2 calipers I guess?

Man, don't make me change my mind again! :(

No you cant, i tried fitting the vented type calipers but they have a bigger pad and outer diameter so they dont go under 10's unfortunately but i have used a later Mk2 1300cc caliper which just fits and has a better slider system and pad retaining clips, Pads and discs for £20 new, You cant go wrong for that??

Let me know if you want anymore info?

( You could do the lot new including hoses for £150)

Save you dosh and sack the 4-pots, there just more Blinging Eye candy which you cant see, they wont really do much more stopping as the pad is tiny, Im even taking my Kad's off as they aint much Kop in my application, need bigger anchors, may keep em for the next project.

cheers

After thinking about it, I have ordered one of these today:

:P <----- Press the ikkle face!

It's better than machining me brand new bottom pulley I reckon. Plus it'll give me more accurate adjustment of me timing disk. Mo' money! :)

Just need to pop to Halfrauds to get the leads. I went to one the other day and they didn't have a set in stock :P

Hopefully I'll be able to get some in the next few days.

Top quality

You do realise that you will need the minispares special bolt and a 1/2" hex socket bit to torque it up(which incidently Minispares dont sell, wich is a bit daft considering that its an oddball tool these days). Give Buck and Hickman a ring, they will sort you out for that :P

Yes mate :P

I already had one, I bought a new crank damper and also got a new socket head cap screw and HD washer with it (the specific one for the job).

Thanks for the heads up though!

I have just spent an hour or so in the garage and stripped the engine right down to do a final inspection, then put it back together. Better safe than sorry! I thought there was one tolerance that I wasn't happy with, it's months since I built the engine, so I thought I'd check it seeing as I have loads of gasket sets! :P

An hour well spent, I found that I was right about one tolerance. The primary gear endfloat is at 0.005" (should be between 0.003" and 0.006"). But now I've doubel checked it I am happy (I think).

Gonna pop it back together on Saturday I think. :P

Was contemplating leaving the bootskin exposed weave, but am deffo gonna paint it after seeing this picture:

Oooh, and I just bought some group 2 'wide' arches, should cover the 10's nicely! :(

RIP the Shed. Too much filler hidden under the paint by the previous owner, too much welding needed and not enough time or money, means that I am going to chop the roof panel off it, cut the newish front end off it and weigh the remainder of the shell in as scrap metal :'(
