I've tried that, the connectors were a little splayed, so I closer them down to make a tighter contact. I've literally tried everything I can think of. It's bizarre. I'm now wondering if it's something mechanical, but I don't know how it could be. It definitely seems to be electrical. It ran alright for the first 80 miles, bar the misfire on warm up. Once you got through that first five minutes it ran fine. It's just getting worse and worse now. The car ain't even capable of going 1 mile at the moment. BH2N looks impossible now. I'll have to go in the flaming repmobile at this rate. That'll be an embarrassment!

Refit it and check the gap

VR is new, gap is 1mm(ish) as it should be. Every sensor and all wiring triple checked.

I just keep coming back to this custom inlet. Every time I reseal it, or generally have a play with it, the engine's behaviour seems to alter.

I'm still trying, but it's just not getting me anywhere. I'm pretty hacked off, as when I bought the Allspeed kit, I was told that the standard inlet would fit, but it simply doesn't. There's not enough room for it at all.

I am going to have to go straight to phase 2 I think, which is ITBs and Emerald ECU (or similar). Simple fact is, I don't have time or finances to do that before the run. If I can make it drivable, I will use it!

I'm not clued up on these opels but what inlets are others using with Allspeed? Standard or custom?

Can you actually see anything wrong with the inlet aswell?

Me knows, agonisingly close.

Kam, the inlet off the standard Corsa won't fit, so most people fit ITBs and mappable ignition. Instead, I wanted to go down the "powerbox" route, which is something that a lot of Corsa owners do to de-restrict Vauxhall's VERY restrictive inlet. The problem is; the normal off-the-shelf powerboxes have the TB mounted on the O/S, which is no goodfor my application.

It's annoying, because ITBs were always the plan. But I wanted to get it up and running and run in with the standard kit. No joy with that route though, so I'll have to go to the Gixxer ITBs that I have in the garage. Poop poop, that's another £500+ by the time I've sorted out management for the setup, so ATM it's a no go.

matt - take it to someone who can plug it in. Clearing all the fault codes might get rid of some w@nky safe mode, where it thinks overfueling is the answer. Or - it might just tell exactly what the issue is.

I have access to a code reader if it helps?

The problem is, I don't have the part of the loom where the code reader plugs into. You can "flash out" the fault code by earthing one of the wires and counting the amount off times the MIL flashes, but it won't flash out the code for some reason. I have a tech2 fault code reader, but no plug to plug it into. I'm thinking of getting another full loom from a scrappy, so I can at least use diagnostics on it.

I'm ashamed about this, but it beat me....again.

I'm just resigned to the fact that I'm not up to this kind of work on cars. I'm gutted to not have it here as I sit in the Travelodge the night before BH2N. Epic fail!

When I get back home, that's it. Gixxer TBs, Emerald ECU and some serious effort. It will be on a track this year, just not the mighty Nürburgring.
