Cheers guys.

Yeah, I hope it turns up in time, but it's not the end of the world if it doesn't.

It will be ace to take it out for a proper lengthy run once it's passed though. That's when I'll start finding the little niggles

Start finding the niggles post MOT huh?

No no, I'll start finding them now :D

Won't idle when it's hot now.
Won't rev freely either. I'm not sure whether it's a management thing or the "design" of my inlet manifold...

More testing and fault fixing to follow.

I still love it though!

I've got a feeling it's the TPS itself to be honest.

IAT sensor is a new un, wire continuity checks out OK, plug and pins look good. I'm thinking of swapping out the TPS for good measure anyway.

Actually, I can just test the TPS, isn't it. Multi meter time!

Phase one (this engine setup) won't see over 120 donkeys I doubt. They're 109 as standard, but the inlets are soooo restrictive. Just by modding the inlet similar to the way I have apparently sets another 10-15bhp free, depending on who you believe.

With the standard engine, cams and head, but an SBD taper throttle body setup, you can achieve 160-165 bhp straight away!

With a skim, head work and cams, plus ITBs, 200bhp is possible.

That's why I'm looking at adding the Gixxer ITBs and a lightweight flywheel, another head and mappable ECU. I'd love to see over 150 out of this engine when phase 2 happens!

Note, I said 'blat' on the way to Germini and not on the track itself as you've been a few times before..... though we might end up having an "interesting" race if things dont work out for both of us and I'm still limited to 5k revs and your still test driving it on it?

Drivers skill then! :D

It's MOT time tomorrow, 10:00!

I'm seriously nervous now. Nothing back from the DVLA, so it's going through the MOT with a 1275 engine on the documents, gutted about that, but never mind, it'll be sorted out soon.

I fitted a new TPS last night, tested the old one versus the new one. Old one was definitely not working right, but there's not really that much change. I've checked the wires from the TPS to the ECU and they all check out, all ECU and sensor earths are good. Engine earths are good, it's just got another problem somewhere running alongside the original one. To say it hasn't changed much isn't really accurate actually. It's more responsive to throttle movements now.

It's still idling roughly, worse when it's warm. It'll get to the stage where it'll just cut out when it's warm. I'm thinking it's the MAF too now, which I'm pretty peeved about as I bought a "good" second hand one. The engine didn't have one with it when I got it, so I bought one off Migweb. I'm pretty sure that on the C16XE the IAT sensor is part of the MAF unit? Anybody know? I know there's only one spare plug (a red two-pin one) on the loom, but I aint got a clue where that's supposed to go and can't tell from the Haynes wiring diagram. Unless that's supposed to be connected to an IAT sensor somewhere? :mmkay:

I can either try and find another today, or just take it to its MOT as it is.

I'm setting off well early though tomorrow and going the long way around.

Ummmm, oooops!

:mmkay:

Vauxhall World parts list an Inlet Air Temperature sensor for the C16XE, so I guess I'd better get one ASAP. I hope the local Vx man has one in stock! It'll have to go into the base of the air filter. Poop poop!

Engine conversions are too much for me! :)

Didn't get one. Booo!

But, I'm still taking it tomorrow. Even with it running rough. It'll have to be tested tomorrow, or I simply won't have time. Poops!
