The guy that did my engine work is going to do me a headed letter:

"Receipt for work on engine number C16Xe......., fitted to vehicle registration FRK 15J. Engine capacity is now 1618cc. Engine work carried out 30th August 2009."

to be honest, though I want it finished, I want to get the paper trail sorted. I think ghat when I send that letter along with the amended V5, they'll be OK?

How long does it take to get a log book back?

One thing a mate of mine said was that he "could" MOT it and "not notice" the non-standard engine. Then I should leave it for two or three weeks and notify them of the engine change! It'd work, but it's dodgy and I don't want to do that. So I'm gonna get that letter done on Monday.

It's all a mind bender!

Heres the letter the I got Mate

Its no big deal really, infact when I spoke to them they said its hit and miss if they send this out anyway even with no supporting paperwork? :dontgetit:

Your engine guy needs to only include three things really, engine size, engine number and type of fuel used, but I'd guess they would be fine if you miss one or two aslong as its on headed paper

Unlucky for me as my engine is a secondhand ebay jobbie from a 'bloke' :D but lucky as my local honda have been fascinated with my build when I've been in and out of there buying parts and issued a letter to confirm the above three main bits so hopefully this will be ok

Like you I can get round this but why bother? Its more bother in the long run?

I'd be inclined to get it all done and taxed etc on the rd, then notify DVLA. If they decide to hold onto the logbook whilst you get more info/proof for them at least you can use the car.

Update:

it's up and running again, but now the lambda sensor is faulty. It's got a direct short in it. New one of them tomorrow.....

It's a nice sounding motor though. Idle is a little rough, but the intake system needs refining.

Yeah baby, it's getting there! Woooooo!

One ploblem is the rev counter. All over the place. Another little job to sort!

Update:

I've bought a new ICV for the current setup.

I've bought a new lambda sensor for it too, as I had a fault.

It wouldn't run smoothly at all, so I've fixed that. I'm just having the final push to get it to an MOT station in the next few days......but Iv'e got to go to Glastonbury with work today, so am missing a day of working on it. Poops.

Oh yeah, I've bought a set of throttle bodies for phase two anorl. Just need a mappable ECU now, not sure what to go for. Emerald K3 or Megasquirt seem most likely.

Update:

Finished!

MOT appointment will be made on Monday. Can't have any time off work at the moment, so it'll have to be next Saturday. There's just a few little bits of tidying up and painting to do. If I don't do them before the MOT, it's no biggy!

Pics later on! :D
