Matt your mad!

What is side steping the clutch? Never heard the term before. Whats double clutching for that matter?!

/me walks off, pondering.

I hope there's going to be many pictures of this engine build, I like pictures.

My engine guy told me to push it during run in. He said not to potter around in it, but not to thrash it.

So, I reckon, rev up to 3000rpm then sidestep the clutch, change up at 6750rpm? Yeah? :techsupport:

id labour it, but not rev above 4.5k so maybe even pull off's in 2nd gear (depending) and up hill runs, 50 miles on asda oil >_< and drop it all, connect oil cooler if you having one then throw in the decent shizz and drive as normal, tho i would still leave the very high revs for a while....yes....thats the plan i stuck to...deffo didnt rev it high at all and on the rivi-run i didnt get air off a bridge land sideways into a corner

Wheeee!

Fixed tensioner, steel idlers and ARP rod bolts will be with me tomorrow.

Not 100% necessary ATM, but if you're gonna build an engine you may as well get the bottom end right first time!

Shyeah boy!

If I can get the bottom end built tomorrow and slapped into the frame, I'll be a good way through the worst of it. 3 hours to build the engine up, leaves me a good 8 or 9 to get her in!

....blah...............3 hours to build the engine up, leaves me a good 8 or 9 to get her in!......blah.........

:)

Why do parts suppliers ALWAYS let you down?

Frikkin bloomin ARP rod bolts were the wrong ones, can't get new til Monday, so can't assemble engine fully. Besides, I snapped a piston ring on the way in and now have to wait til monday to get a new set.

Poooooooooooooop poop!!!!!

Right then!

Got a new dash from the legend that is STIGmund van ScurvyDog, fitted that yesterday and fitted the Acewell dash into it. It'll have to stay unpainted for now and come out for the leather trimming when we're back from Germini. The only problem I have now is being able to afford to buy a pair of bucket seats. :proud:

The bottom end of the engine is now all assembled, just gotta slap the flywheel on and torque up the bolts and then fit the clutch assembly tomorrow night.

THEN, I can bolt the gearbox and short engine together, plonk the starter in and fit it to the frame! WEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Hopefully that'll happen by Wednesday.

So, I reckon I'll have my engine in place by Thursday/Friday, all the gear linkage sorted out, then I've just got to await my head from the workshop (due Thursday) and I can fit that on and fit the timing belt and the solid tensioner/steel idler kit from SBD and it's all jsut a case of bolting things together then!

Could have everything in place by the end of the weekend if all goes according to plan and could even be firing her up late on Sunday!n If I can get that far with her this week, then it's all just finishing details that I need to sort. All the niggly bits, so I'll book her for MOT on Saturday 22nd. Supposedly, I need 1000 miles to run her in, so I need to really be aiming to have her set up, MOT'd, taxed and ready to rock and roll by 23rd, that gives me a good week or so to get some driving in. I reckon I can manage to get a good 600 miles in in a week, so that's gonna mean it'll be oil change at the campsite!
