Would love to see yours at Malvern, but I'm absolutely skint this month, can't even afford petrol to get there or the entry fee to get in :)

Glad you're up and running though Al, good grin factor? You're on C16SE aren't you? Same as Tom's? damn good option IMO, maybe not as powerful as some conversions, but I reckon it's more of a smiles for miles conversion! Damned reliable engine, easy to work on, good economy, reasonable BHP and good and torquey.

The only think I'm surprised about with the C16XE is the limitations with revs. A lot of people say that anything over 6250rpm and you're going to need to beef up yer bottom end. I'd have thought that for a fairly modern engine, that's a little low really. We'll see what she's like at first and then consider a bench build of something a little more special (read that as 'I am going to buy another engine and build it up into a monster when I can afford to)!

Finish date, yes, pre-Bingley :D Malvern :sneaky: Himley Hall?

The SBD/ MBE management takes it to over 7000rpm on which Rob Hall ran his x16xe engine reliably :P

Yeah? Well that's a bit more encouraging.

I'm still thinking that my best option is to plonk this one in as standard and go for a beauty of a motor when I'v egot the time/finances to do a decent bench-build on another block. I've been looking at my options and I reckon you could build a decent motor for £2k really. The C16XE head seems more than capable of high power figures from what I've read (given a decent pair of cams).

Anyway, must concentrate on getting this 'iteration' finished before I start planning the next engine build!

power wise... its *melon*, because ive gone from R1 to 1.6 8v. But building up a 16v at the moment, managed to get hold on jenveys, inlet, MBE ecu, filter, coilpack and loom for £900. So thatll go on a c16xe with ARP's in the conrods. I should get 150-160bhp and 7750rpm, with the MBE ill also have hard and soft rev limiter and launch control.

Sounds like your motor will be awesome soon then Alex! That's the kind of thing I'm aiming for long-term. At the moment I'll just be happy with anything over about 110 donkeys with a 5 speed box, that'll do more than 15mpg! :P

Anyway, I must crack on with it................... rather than sitting around using t'internet! :) :P

Can I just hijack and ask Alex what injectors he is using in those Jenveys? Are you sticking with the 1.6 or using the 2.0? Oh and what size throttle bodies are they?

Only asking as I've just got me a set of 45's

Cheers - John

Well, I've done a little bit more work on it, but not nearly enough! ;)

Awwwwwwww

Need new A-panels ASAP so I can fit the front end properly. It's just resting somewhere near in place at the moment (well, it's held on with the bonnet pins, so it's secure). Gotta get cracking with the engine rebuild now too. :) WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
