Well done for getting it through the MOT!! >_< Well pleased for you, after all the hard work you've put in!

Go on KADs forum, they had a topic specifically for people having issues fitting their quickshifts.

Cheers Jammy, I was well happy at the weekend, but I can't help but feel disappointed with the teething problems at the moment. I spent about 4 hours in the garage last night trying to sort out the electrical issues, fitting relays to the dipped beam and main beam circuit for my uprated H4 bulbs, rewiring the dash and generally replacing any wiring connections that looked FUBAR. Gotta remember that some of the spade terminals and wires are knocking on for forty years old I guess.

But yeah, the KAD quickshift. I'm actually not happy with it in general to be honest, I just didn't like the feel of it. I'm gonna see how it goes with the normal gearshift for now and see if I'm happy to keep that. I'll probably just sell the KAD one now I think.

As for the rolling road tomorrow at 2pm......

Wait and see if I can make it!!!

Still haven't got the clutch to be 100% right. I can get it in gear OK, just, but I really don't want to be forcing the selectors. It's like it still needs just a mm or so more travel on the CRB to get her to disengage. If I'm driving along, I put my foot on the clutch when I stop, it stalls. It's not because of too much pressure on the thrusts or anything like that, it's fine when it's in neutral and I press the clutch pedal, it doesn't stall. It just doesn't 100% disengage. Also, when it's in gear and I try to turn it over with my foot on the clutch, the starter struggles to turn it and the car tries to move a little. Want to get that sorted before the RR (well, before I drive it again), so I am going to try tonight but I don't think I've got time to get the clutch cover off, space out the backplate, refit it, try it again, adjust it on my own again etc. along with finishing off the wiring. >_<

:(

Sorry, forgot to update.

Didn't make it to the rolling road. I didn't have any lights :) at all!

Me being me, had a little electrical problem which meant replacing all of the switches and most of the front loom :ermm:

But that's done now (and I've also fitted a new heater rad as my old one was leaking). I'm about to go back into the garage and have another crack at getting the clutch right. I've decided that I'm going to introduce some shims to the horns on the backplate, the drivestraps are already flat, the diaphragm spring is flat, so the only other thing I can think of doing to make it fully disengage is to space the backplate a little.

So I am going to see how it goes with the new wiring sorted out and the clutch work done and phone em back to book it in again. Might drive it around for a week first, just to make sure I get all of the other teething problems sorted out before it gets rolling roaded

 the bodger had been at em! I wired in some halogen headlamps and rather bright H4 bulbs, but they burnt out the switch  I was too lazy to fit relays, but that's all sorted now :D

Soooo, just been out for a spin in her again and the clutch still aint right. BUT, I'm happy that everything mechanically from the slave cylinder down is as good as I can get it. I'm not happy with the way the clutch pedal sits about 1/2" -3/4" lower than the brake pedal. There's a little bit of play in it too, so I'm going to get under there tomorrow night and swap out any worn parts that I find. :D

Thanks for the compliment. I've already sold the Corbeaus unfortunately though. I wish I hadn't now as the Cobra Classics are pap!

Anyway, small update, the FReaK is back in my garage. I can't leave the gearbox as it is, it's leaking SO much oil it's unreal. Just about every frikkin gasket on it is leaking, both diff end covers, the speedo cover, it's ridiculous. I'm not at all happy with that! I'm also having clutch disengagement issues and I've had a couple of problems with my starter. Twice now it's jammed in the ring gear. It's a weird problem, it's as though a couple of the teeth are the wrong form. It works fine to turn over again and again but there's been a couple of times that the things jammed up totally, so I've had to jump out of the car and rock her back and to in gear, then she'll turn over again. Gonna check out what's causing it tonight.

But, I've ordered a new U/L flywheel from Minispares today as I've never been 100% happy with this one, there did look to be a little damage to the ring gear last time I had it out, but I hoped it would be OK. Damn thing!

to be honest I aint sure if it's a minispares one or a minisport one that I already have! :genius: :)

Some of the parts were sourced for the engine sooooooo long ago that I forget in me old age! :)

Either way, I've taken the starter off and the clutch cover and the ring gear is FUBAR, so I've got a new one on the way from minispares. If I get time, I might get a new ring gear fitted to this current one and flog it.

Decided I'm gonna flog my KAD quickshift too, it's not to my liking at all and it's just something else that I'm disappointed with. At the moment I'd be happy with a simple 998 in there! Sooooo peed off about the gearbox leaking so much, got to drain the oil after 40 miles of use and replace both diff side gaskets, the detent plunger doofah O ring and the speedo end gasket! :D

Did you use compound gasket sealent when puttin the box 'together... Its a great way of makin sure it seals properly, you can use plenty of it too on the gearbox, because theres not many oil galleries to be weary of, only ones are on the end covers for the diff. ooo and put it where that 'O' ring is too (on the selector spring thing)

Hope it helps, i know all to well the feeling of having to rip half th motor out again after just putting it in, its gutting
