Pap! Next time I do any painting it'll be with a compressor! Aerosols are NOT the future.

But, I AM NOT, intending for this car to look mint (yet). The bodywork was never on the agenda until I can get it properly sorted. The doors are new uns from the 'minidoorcompany' so they are painted to prevent rust more than anything.

Well, she still looks like this:

Had a bit of a fun time with my other car and that's slowed me down. Didn't make it for MITP, it wouldn't have been ready for BH2N, it wasn't ready for Sandon Hall either. Excuses are............ been ill, been on holiday, been busy at work........ the usual stuff, but I've also been slow with buying the little bits I need to finish her off because my other car's been eating the mini funds recently!

Anyway, I've bought some harnesses, they're ready to go in and on a trial 'fit' they look OK to me. The bodywork's still in progress, the engine's still in dire need of a tune up, but I'll crack on with it this weekend.

I've fitted the magnolia clock that the GF bought me, but it means that the two other 52mm gauges need changing for magnolia ones now too :)

Umm, need to fit the plates that I've made up for the bootskin,

Gonna leave that as exposed weave for now, then paint it when I fit a flip-front to her.

That's about it for now, basically, still not finished, but not far off. This weekend should see a LOT more work completed hopefully.

never read this thread before MMM. That motor sounds like it'll be a bit of a monster, nice one :o

Wanted to ask you tho if theres any room at all between the wheel and caliper for wheel weights, or would you have to get external ones fitted? I'm having brake issues at the moment and thinking of just replacing the lot with a 7.5 vented set up, and the minisport ones appealed to me, bearing in mind i want to drop it on 10" GB's in the future. So you've kinda tested it out already for me :P

Cheers, Dan

I reckon there's enough room between the caliper and the inside face of the wheel rim to fit the handle of a teaspoon, ooh, or a lollipop stick, maybe even a.............

Nah, being serious (because sometimes I am), I had to remove the stick on wheel weights because they just caught the caliper. I need to fit a set of A032s, so they'll need rebalancing anyway :o It'll be knock on weights in the future for me, but the proper ones for alloys, not steel rim ones! :P

Have you mounted your rod change mech yet as mine has gone from the remote type to rod with no mods to the tunnel just some ingenius looking bracketry and a bolt through the big lump on the passenger side of the tunnel i think?(not done by me.). if ya want i will get some pics?

Sounds exactly like mine! Bodged brackets are winners every time! :P

I made a bracket out of steel (just thin stuff for now) to get it to the right shape, but now it's fitted in place it's going to come off and I am going to copy the bracket and make it out of 5mm aluminium at work. I'll be able to do a nicer job of it then. I keep forgetting to take piccies of it, it's legendary! :o

It works fine, but I could do with a slightly shorter bobbin on the left side of the bracket. I think I've got one in the garage somewhere that'll do.

What was wrong with the aerosols? I find my finger/thumb always begins to ache after a while! :o Apparently you can get nossels to fit on them that produce a much nicer spray, and don't give you the spatter you sometimes get with 'sols.

Aerosols aint sooo bad, I just get fed up with feeling like I'm bodging it, but I can't afford a compressor at the moment. I wish I'd never sold my old one, but that goes for a lot of my old tools that I sold.

Anyway, I spent a few more hours on the bodywork yesterday. I also sorted out a few more little niggly jobs. :P

So, the exhaust is now properly fitted up. As is the gear linkage, nice and solid with my patented remote/rod conversion kit!

The bodywork's coming along slowly now, the doors are painted inside and out, so they're ready for the internals to go in and also for a buff up now to get them nice and shiney.

Ummm, fitted the eyebolts for the harnesses, the seats are back in aaaaannnnd, made a decision NOT to fit the cage. It just takes up too much headroom, by the time I put some proper cage padding on there it'll practically be a headrest so it's going to go up for sale! Bit gutted because it was a bargain, but hey ho! I also fixed a fuel leak on the electric pump in the back and routed some of the pipe work a bit neater. I also need to chop down the heater hoses to the correct length.

Anyway, heeeeeeeere she is:

Just decided to get her back on the road as she is really. The bodywork can wait. I've fitted a chrome roof gutter trim and also a new fillet strip to the rear screen rubber as the old one was manky and had been bodged in with sealant for some daft reason! :P

Anyway, when she next comes off the road, she's going to get a flip front and also get some money spent on the bodywork. GF's brother was supposed to be helping me with the bodywork, but it's just not worked out, we've both been too busy to get any time to work on it together, so it's going to go into a proper bodyshop once I've prepped and fitted the flip-front. But there's no real rush to do that, it'll just be a case of saving up the moolar! :P
