CHEEEESE!!!! Totally :ermm: ing cheesed off!

I came back from the week away in Cornwall, to a mahoosive puddle of oil on the garage floor!

The 'reconditioned' gearbox has a luvverly oil leak from the O/S diff cover gasket. AAAAH MAN!

It's only lost like half a pint, but it's really cheesed me off, not least because it means that I'll have to drop the new oil out to do it. It's only like a couple of hours to rectify it and replace the gasket (if it is just a gasket problem), but it's still enough of a PITA. I think I'm going to just put up with the oil leak whilst I run the engine in (was gonna do a 500 mile run-in, but I suspect I'll reduce that now). Then once I drop the oil after the run in, I'll change the diff cover gasket at the same time. That means releasing a ball joint and swinging the hub out to be able to withdraw the pot joint, then replacing the gasket, then putting it all back together again before I put the new oil in! ;D :P <---- sarcastic w00ts there! :o

Need to take some time off work to get it finished. Been away all week and lost four potential nights of work on it, so I am going to get properly cracking again next week. Got too much to do today and tomorrow to do any FReaK work really.

Main thing I need to do, look for a new job! :xxx: :o

Yeah, well I have now booked Tuesday and Wednesday off work, so I'm going to have a good two days working on getting the niggly little jobs sorted on it. Hoping to get in there today sometime too, but not for any major work today.

I feel a bit better knowing that I can really crack on with it on Tuesday and Wednesday though, a good 10 hours per day will see it sorted I reckon.

dag nam it!

Now I need a new battery! >_< I charged it up on Monday night, fitted it to the car, cranked her over and it seemed OK, went back to it later and it's a gonner! Oopsies. It's an 072 type (not a mini OE one) so it's a case of shopping around the local motor factors today.

Yesterday was a bit of a weird days work on the FReaK really. I've started all of the little niggly jobs, like tidying up the hoses everywhere and tidying up wiring, double checking things before I fire her up.

But...........

Couldn't get a spark yesterday. I wound her over with the ignition system turned off (got a likkle secret immobiliser for the sparks). Got my oil pressure up, then switch the ignition system on, tested for a spark (plug resting on top of head, winding it over to see if it was sparking) but nothing, nada, no likkle sparks. Checked all of the wiring, seems fine. Got a live at the coil, got live at the megajolt, got live at the ignition module, everything's earthed OK. The VR sensor is fitted OK, setup to TDC as it should be, it's either a dodgy coil, dodgy Megajolt, or dodgy ignition module (unless I've missed a wire somewhere). Problem is, I couldn't get the laptop to talk to the Megajolt yesterday, then the car battery went pretty flat. So it's a case of charging up the battery today for one last time, then if that's a no go, I'll be heading to the local scrappies and getting some spares. :P
