I didn't like the round hole in the bulkhead (for the speedo thingy) so I cut a square one instead :D

Then I decided I didn't like the square hole, so I made a shelf to put my cuppa on, but nobody brought me a cuppa! :D

I have decided to tart up the engine bay whilst I am in there, hence starting with rubbing down etc.

But I have convinced myself that I am going to do a steel removable front end in the summer for it. I am going to get it back on the road as it is, buy the panels and make a front end and paint it over the next month or two. I will also buy the brace bars, then fit it in all in a weekend in the summer time (hopefully). :xxx:

MMM not want to tell you how to do things but it looks like you have put the bulkhead box in the middle of the car. The centre of the carb is actually one inch towards the passenger side if you wantted things central to each other, if not of, it doesnt matter obviousley but the filter will be closer to the passenger side of the box as you have it.

cheers

I have just spent my morning reading every single thread of this build. This is one of my old minis and its great too see that its getting some good attention. Ill keep watching the updates to see how it all goes. Oh and its got a new name, it used to be called FRanK. Still FReaK does suit it. Keep up the good work.

:xxx: yeah I know, it is central, but I have done it so there is enough clearance all around the carb, but am having the pipes and cables running through the drivers side if that makes sense??? I was thinking of making it big enough to have the pressure regulator on the drivers side too, but didn't in the end. I haven't made the new box yet, so I could actually change it all anyway to be honest.

*scratches chin whilst pondering*

Wowzers, FRanK is now a woman called FReaK (or maybe just a cross-dresser).

I'd love to catch up with you sometime about what you did to the car, for instance, what cam is in it, whether it's had a rebore or not. I was gonna strip and inspect the engine, but it'd be nice to know what I'm gonna find in there.

Did you sell it to Rob then? I know it's had a load of work done at some point (or over the years). The bodywork isn't mint now, but it's not bad to be honest (though there is some cheeky bits of filler here and there) but it wouldn't be a mini without some history would it? :xxx:

PS: Simon, no, you can't have the doors! :)

Ill keep an eye out on this thread in the future then, feel free to keep PMing me. Its good too see he/she is getting a facelift. Its been changed many times, i changed the interior twice on it while i had it, changed the egine brakes supension its had all 3 sizes of alloys 10", 12" and then 13". Different arches different boots and bonnets. The original steel bonnet came off when it let go overtaking a BMW on the motorway and folded its self round the roof. There shouldnt be any problem filler areas, well not that ive ever known but i find areas like where the front panel and wings meet are filled to prevent any corrosion. Is there still a dink in the roof? have a close inspection of the engine, you should see the head isnt the original one for the block. Dynamo removed and replaced with alternator.

What shows do you attend during the year?

Hi again Matt, yeah I see it's a 12G940 head that looks like MG Metro, but I'll confirm that when I strip the engine. I am fairly sure it's been overbored at some point as I see that the engine plate is missing.

I am hoping to go to Stoneleigh on the 8th of this month, also am definitely going to Himley Hall and hopefully MITP. Am saving up for the TMF BH2N run though, which will be the best event to attend! :xxx:

And yeah, there is still a dink in the roof! It looks to me like someones ladders fell over in the garage or something?

It's gonna get the little dink removed whilst it's in the garage at the moment, but it's main areas of bodywork are going to be attended to properly in the Summer.

The dink is from where a truck just reversed into it, lucky thats all the damage that was done.
