Gaffa tape's like the force in star wars - there's a dark side and a light side and it holds the universe together.

I am getting my rear end shifted this weekend (in both senses, the back end is off and my own personal rear end shall be shifting) :D

YAAY! :goaway: The engine and gearbox and front subby are all out! The bulkhead is having a tidy up though, so I'm not gonna get the new engine in this weekend. The box I made for the Weber was a little too deep too, so I have ditched that one and patterned up a new one, which I will cut out on Monday at work. Then I will hopefully be able to weld it in on Monday night. I'm happy with the structure of the bulkhead, there were no nasty surprises, it's just that there is a load of rough paint where the brake fluid has obviously dripped down it and bubbled the paint up. I've stripped it back with a rotary wire brush on the old Black and Decker and it's come up OK. So once the Weber box is made and welded in, I can paint the engine bay (again, hopefully one night in the week).

Easter is my (most recent) target date, so I need to get cracking this week! :-

The hubs are now refurbed (awaiting new grease nipples to save using the old ones), the bottom half of the engine is sortedd, gearbox is sorted, I am going to take the rod for the gearchange in through the 'magic wand' plate hopefully, so that'll save me butchering the shell too much. I also need to make a mount for the gearchange housing, then a cover plate for the old remote gearstick aperture in the body! Hmmm, maybe it'll be Easter 2008! :goaway:

Now that the old engine is sat next to the old one I can start swapping any parts that I may need to (was a few bolts short for the timing cover, little things like that need swapping). So realistically, I could have slapped the new engine into the subframe today, but I thought that the bulkhead may as well be sorted while I had the engine bay empty. I stupidly never planned for it, but I suppose it was obvious that it'd need some work!

The only thing I struggled with today was undoing the front subframe rear lower bolts (through the floor). The bolt was turning so I had to grip the head with molegrips and let it jam up against the body (I put a rag inbetween the body and the grips to protect it). Luckily they weren't tight! It's a bugger working on your own in the middle of nowhere when these little things hold you up.

Have also realised that I have a load more parts to sell yet, so I will be doing a few for sale adverts soon as the garage is rather full! :goaway:
