Some pics from the weekend (off me phone again, sorry):

Shiney vented disks and blinging alloy 4 pots

Nicey nicey:

Now then, the disks are a metric thread (M10 I think) and the old ones were a 3/8" thread (again, a guess). So I had to open out the holes in the drive flanges slightly to get the new socket head cap screws to fit ^_^

Assembled without hubs to check fit (inside a dirty old 6 x 10 GB) and oooh, they tight! But they will fit OK (once I take the stick on balance weights off) :D

Yeah baby! :genius:

Tis a bit of bling I know, but I got a very good deal with Minisport on them, so I thought it was worth giving them a go. ^_^

The new design of them seems to have removed any little niggly problems that they may have had in the past. :D

as they are vented do you not need to use metro drive flanges? that would explain the metric and not imperial threads in the discs.

 I dunno!

They fit with the standard flanges and with the caliper bolted to the hub (apart from the bolt diamter issue) and the disk sits centrally in the caliper too. It all seems OK to me, but then I am a country worker! I will double check with Minisport this afternoon though.

They're the new re-designed Minisport ones. I went for them because they were the best price to be honest (they did a VERY good deal on them for me).

I have noticed a few subtle changes in the design compared to the old ones, like the way that the bleed nipple screws into an adaptor rather than direct into the caliper body and also the new.

At the end of the day, a set of alloy 4 pots, vented/grooved discs and pads all delivered for the price I paid was too much of a bargain to miss! :)

As for being snug, yep they are a bit! But I am only using the GB's until I can afford some Force Racing splitties

With regard to the Vented drive flanges.

Its a bit of a grey area unless you ask minisport themselves. The KAD 7.9" vented four pot calipers are specificaly designed for use with the Mini drive flange, the caliper has a different lug off set and the disks are modified for clearance of the hub.

I would expect that Minisport 'should' have designed this caliper in a similar way, but you never know, it is Minisport.

You may need the vented flanges, which will push the wheels out about another 5mm each side, i dont know the actual figure.

Best phone Minisport

If you have the ability, you could machine out the discs and maybe a little on the hubs and space the caliper back to achieve what KAD do, if the minisport calipers are not designed as such. other than that its no biggie fitting the vented flanges, you will have to machine of the locating lugs though, if they havent already been, or, Minispares do an uprated steel flange that doesnt have the lugs to start.

Oh and there are specific screws for the vented flange, they changed them so that a bolt on situation could never arise, parts wouldnt fit alerting you to the incorrect parts being fitted, that was mainly for ye ha's out there sevicing standard cars.

Phone Phone Phone

I am awaiting an email back from em, but I am sure that they fit OK as they are, with no clearance issues. Best double check though

My old KAD setup on vented discs had mini flanges and a spacer inbetween the caliper lug and the hub to move the caliper inwards, it may require the same or you could do that if you want to keep the standard width track??

Cheers

Well, the kit comes with four spacer washers, so I am pretty sure that I have fitted them correctly, after all the disk does sit centrally and has the clearance necessary. Anyway, I'll await a response from Minisport

Just to confirm:

The Minisport vented caliper set up is designed to work with Mini drive flanges. The only action required is to open out the bolt holes in the flange to accept the new bolts (supplied with the kit).

You've already confirmed but as a second, my mate had to open up the holes in the drive flange to accept the same setup as MMM has. He also rang Minisport to check and just used a pillar drill to drill them to 10mm I think it was.

Cheers

Gaffa tape's like the force in star wars - there's a dark side and a light side and it holds the universe together.

I love that!

Yeah, I think I opened them out from 3/8" to 10mm (but I still can't remember properly) :)
