Update:

Megajolt ECU is now built, gonna get programmed and tested today and sent out to me for midweek!

Gotta decide where to mount it now, but it'll probably be inside the glovebox (I have no gloves in there)!

Just need to do the loom from the ECU to the EDIS module and switches, then I'll be sorted for sparks!

wowzers, today I am all FReaKed out!

Have painted the bare block and head,
assembled the carb/manifold with the fittings for vacuum take-off etc.
cut and folded the steel for the bulkhead box,
taken the HIF44 off the engine (in the car)
taken the LCB off the engine (in the car)
taken all the wires etc. off
disconnected the brake lines,
disconnected the fuel lines,
soooo, the engine and subby is pretty much ready to drop out the bottom now (just gotta take off the remote housing).

All in all, a good (exhausting) day (which involved me spending a lot of time playing with my new welder)! :withstupid:

One thing I do need to do is tidy up the wiring loom and the little things like the washer pipes whilst the engine is out, they look daft the way they are routed at the moment! I'm gonna have to route them under the scuttle above the Weber box somehow, but I do have a draw full of stainless steel P-clips to use for that :P

Now, it's Man U time again! ^_^

After another hour and a half in the garage today, the short block is now re-assembled and all nice and clean! Gotta get the DTI on the pushrods/pistons to set up the timing 100% then I will slap the box on. Hoping to spend an hour or so per night this week on it and have the engine and box fully ready to go, including all of the new ignition kit.

One note:
Bought a dissy blanking plug off ebay from MRA minis, but it was too tight a fit. Had to take the O'ring off it and fettle it to get it to fit. One comment for the design of it would be to have an M6 threaded hole in the centre, as there is nothing to grip on it to pull it out (had to tap it from the inside).

Matt, will you be using a TPS sensor for the megajolt or a MAP sensor, if you're using the MAP sensor, how do you go about mounting it?

The map sensor is fitted to the ECU, so all you have to do is run a pipe to it. I have drilled and tapped the two ports of the inlet manifold and fitted some flush (internally) push fit pipe fittings. They are then linked together with a T-piece, which then has a single pipe running to the ECU. :xxx:

Okey dokey, a few piccies from the weekend (rubbish phone piccies I'm afraid).

Bought this lot from Halfords (to make up leads to suit the coil):

Sorted out how to route the leads and where to mount the new coil pack:

Painted my block and head, note to self - Halfords engine paint is the cackiest of cackedness!

Took this off, it's a HIF44 with K&N (which I may sell to raise some moolar):

Then took the most blurred picture ever! :xxx:
