Jus get the crank and rods etc balanced, not much need to lighten them because you aint gonna save masses of weight through lightenin the engine. A good power gain is a decent cam (Kent 276 or 286) and a ported head.
The only way you are gonna get quick times at 0 - 60 is to have a good engine and a light shell, this means stripping and cutting away and excess weight. Also, wheel size needs considdering, 10" is the best for excelleration, but 13" if better for cruising at speed.

As it happens, I have said ported head for sale :)
