Thanks! I really don't know what to do with the engine though - when I'm done with my van, its the turn of this car. I really dont know if I should go 998 n/a screamer or a supercharged 1275...... Ahh, decisions! I will be sorting out the bodywork though when I'm done the van - I want to put new arches on it, because the ones that are on it are cheap f/g copies, and they aren't really that well fitted. Then theres the front wings, but they arent really too bad. Just a bit of general tidying up.

I was thinking about a 998 too - would the bottom end take it? I suppose they have been turbo'd, so theres no reason why not... I've not started looking into it that hard yet, got to finish one project before I start another! The cooper head should be enough to be going on with - for now :)

Picked up the rest of my interior at Bingley hall yesterday from Dogmatix, so I put that in today. I also had a pair of harnesses from Bam that I have been putting off doing until I got the interior in, so today was the perfect oppurtunity.
The new rear seat and door cards

Harnesses and front door cards. Yes I know it needs a hoovering out! When I put the new cards in the front, the handles were wrong - I had the diagonal ones on, so I had to make a pair of horizontal to replace them because the hole spacings are different. Came out pretty well, if I do say so myself! And it gave me an excuse to play on the milling machine.

Jeezus! been a while since I updated this! The head that morspeed were doing? Well that took months to get back off em, and in the last few days I've finally got round to fitting it. :) First off though, the underside was starting to get a little tatty - underneath the waxoyl it was beginning to rust. So got it on the ramps, stripped it, treated the rust, primed it, stonechipped it and painted it. Now looks a little something like this:

Then when it came to swapping the head, things went a tad pear shaped. I discovered the source of my ever dropping water level - holy radiator, batman. The accelerator pedal was hanging by about 3 strands of wire as well. And the cheapo LCB manifold refused to come off. A minute with the air hacksaw persuaded it otherwise. A call to the nice chaps at maniflow had this on my doorstep the next day:

(I already had a good maniflow backbox on it)
Luckily there was a spare radiator to be had - my cousins old one. Even better - its the SPI one, with a temperature sender in the bottom of it, which means its a 2 minute job to drain the water instead of farting around with the bottom hose :P
So now the engine bay looks like this:

And it goes a helluva lot better too, and thats before having it setup properly!
:D

I want to do similar things to my 998 too. How hard are 12G295 heads to find though? Don't really want to have the block pocketed. Also the carb; HIF38 - What are they normally found on?

I got my 295 head fairly cheap off ebay - think it was about £40. Then took it to morspeed and had unleaded valve seats put it, a good skim, new valves, guides, springs and a bit of porting done. Cant remember exactly how much that was (he knocked a chunk off because it took so long). HIF 38s are just 1.5" HIF carbs - found on most of the later carb minis and metros. The reason I went for this was the same - didnt want to pocket the block, when you can get pretty much the same results with a 295 head.

Just seen this post for the first time; and I love the first pictures because of the wheel and arch combo >_<

I'm on stupidly big cooper wheels atm, with group 5 arches (with no mods) and they scrape like a b******d! I'm changing wheels and arches, and doing the adjustra-ride with gaz shocks at the same time. Anyhoo, the question is...

What size wheels are those, and with which arches are those too, please?

EDIT - Oh yeah, and do they scrape?

IIRC toms wheels are 13x7 superlites with sportspack arches.

Looking good matey. Dont think your 295 is as lairy as my slark one though. dunno if youve read about it anywhere but that head is going to be put to use very soon.

Well, I've gone and f**ked it now. Stuck it into a hedge this morning on the way to work  Dragged it back home on my uncle's truck and pushed it to the corner of the drive. So now I'm carless until my van is on the road. What a fecking pillock. I was going to pull it off the road in june anyway for a rebuild, but I was planning on having the van for everday transport. :ermm:  :) I'll put some pictures up later.
