started building up the engine to go back in today. it had a broken manifold stud tried for ages with mole grips filing flats in it heat and penetrating fluid. nothing worked. then i had a brain wave, ive got a mains powered drill so plenty of torque. i tightened the chuck up on the stud as much as i could, braced the drill against my leg and it undid a treat. has anyone else done this or have i discoverd a new technique lol.

the list is ever growing. here it is at the moment, theres more to do i just havent thought of yet.

• Install fuel lines
• Connect rear lights to loom
• Connect rear loom to main loom
• Fuel tank
• Battery/battery box/battery cable
• Seat mounts
• Harness mounts
• Fit front screen
• Fit rear screen
• Put winders on doors
• Put door furniture on
• Door glass
• Quarter light glass
• Shake proof washers for front brake hoses
• Bleed brakes
• Wiper set up
• Sort rubber for flip front
• Headlight rims
• Indicators
• Grill?
• Bonnet fixings
• New plates
• Fit boot and hinges
• Fit exhaust

i think ill wait to buy bits i need till after christmas. try and blag some sale bargains.

does anyone know of any other wiper motor set up that people have used? as i have a modified bulkhead the standard set up is pretty awkward to get in, it involves lots of swearing.

any ideas for digital dials too? im up for a diy jobbie just not really sure where to start?

i think i have found the perfect dash for my project.

its from custom minis, i think its pimp. it should cover the modified bulkhead perfectly.

i have to find out if they do them without speaker pods though.

if not, does anyone know of any other dashes similar to this one? im sure ive seen some but not sure on brands etc.

sound

no progress on the dash side of things, but ive sorted out doorcards so slowly the interior is being dealt with.

stripped, cleaned and rebuilt my second hand hif44, courtesy of adautobits on here. the plastic float was all smashed to bits, no idea how it would have happened but i had an old carb for spares handy.

i got some corrigated plastic tube free from an electrician mate that ive used to tidy up the wiring loom.

need to make a blanking plate for the passenger side bulkhead still. must steal some ali sheet from somewhere.

slow progress as ever...

started building the doors up yesterday.

i need another regulator not sure which side i have yet, ill check and post a wanted ad.

i need some new glass runners too, old ones are all rusty. im waiting for interior handles and doorcards in the post. then the doors are done.

i dont know which ill put on first yet though. the doors or the front end... i think the a panels may interfere with the doors, which will be a b***h but ill cross that bridge when i get to it.

i will look into getting some new plates made up this week too, im just going to go for brand new plastic ones, i dont really like the pressed metal ones anyway.

i need to phone my old college and get my fuel tank that i made as well......

i just keep telling myself slow progress is still progress!
