yes i read this but this is for buying from a scrappy.
my mates 216 has just had head gasket changed, i tihnks its about 70-80K. its runs and he says the gearbox is all fine. so i think i could get it for around £300 which doesnt seem too bad.
a-series.. a-series.. a-series!!! i thought you already had an engine??
lol. yeah i have do (a 1.3 from an allegro i think?, it was out of the green car i got for £10 at the start of this thread.)
dont know how much fun itll be. its standard apart from mg metro inlet and maniflow exhaust manifold, hif44 etc.
ive not driven a mini with a 1275 in before so dont know what to expect.

dont pay anymore than £200 for one from the scrappy!
this quoted from the topic on 16v.
there also people in that topic who say they have bought cars for £50-90.
i thought £300 would be a reasonable price for a running engine, and most of the other bits youd need for the conversion.

A-series all the way !!!!! have you considered the 16v head of the bmw bike thats a bit differant and if you get decent bits would last AGES

got all my new tyres fitted, wheels balanced new valves etc.
havent made any other progress im still waiting for these damn coil over brackets from minispares. they are really pissing me off now.
i have considered the bimmer head conversion yes. its a great conversion i have spent many hours reading through all the bimmer head projects on tubrominis. i done really want to do it at the moment due to funds and sourcing a head was proving very difficult. it may be something for the future.
my plan now is just to get the mini on the road asap, im still looking into the k series though, so much power and reliability.
anyways... i hate minispares
peace

but, here's a picture of what you're supposed to get in the kit: -
here's a picture of what i got: -
there are two small washers missing for the bracket to inner wing bolts, not really a problem as i have suitasble washers but sh!t none the less. i am also missing two of the large washers which is also gay.
notice the distinct lack of spacers in my kit compared to the above.
This kit comes complete with all nuts and bolts plus the spacers for either side of the front top damper mounting bolt.
Clearly not! i still hate minispares im going to phone them over lunch and moan at them and see what they are going to do about this problem. in effect they havent sold me what was advertised.
rant over - sorry about that im still a little pissed off.

well it should be all sorted now. spoke to csomeone yesterday who phoned to check it had arrived but the same bits were still missing so he said he'd get someone to sort it first thing today. and thats just whats happened, the spacers should be with me 2moro. spot on.
bought some longer studs and spacers for the rear to clear the shocks on the forum, they should be here soon. then i can get the shell on wheels and off the damn pallet its been on for over a year.
