that means arches now then

it does yeah, i wanted no arches but i dont think i'd get away with it with discs on the front really.

i like group 5 euro's they look like sportpacks but flatter. they might be too wide though. ill hva eto mock the front end up and see how far the wheels stick out.

ive decided on seats now. im going to go for Sparco Sprint V's. they're cheap, side mounted, narrow and i think they look pretty cool and would go well with my black colour scheme.

For 10x6 wellers you need arches that are about 3.5" in the top. Im using Group 5s so the euros will be fine.
Wish i had gone for the euros as they curve in the front, rather than leaving a little gap like on mine :proud:

those seat's look ace!! have you seen the ones smudger does in black cloth and carbon.. they dont weigh anything!! JetBlick has them if you want to see what they look like...

those euros should look great... i see what ed4ran means about the shape of his and how far they stick out.. it wouldnt suit if they where any wider.

cheers mate, what brakes/driveflange are you using at the front? ive got fezza brakes and metro vented DF if you have standard 8.4 DF mine will stick out further wont they?

also Ed4ran, did you have to cut your wings at all?

yeah i was chatting to smudger at bingley his seats look ace but for the price of one of those i can get a pair of the sprint V's and im on a budget...

Yeah im using normal driveflanges, with 4pot brakes,
I didnt think the flanges were much thicker it at all, only tapered towards the edge for clearance behind them?? I could be wrong though.

Would the group 5 arches need to be trimmed or are they a direct fit? Paintable? Will they still fit with a chrome bumper? Sorry to hijack, but it IS looking good so far.

brought the front end out from its hiding place in the mid-coversion loft to mock it p oin the car and see how far the wheels stick out.

its 4" to the edge of the wheel so i think 3" arches will be fine.

it did look good with the front on, but it wont be going back on for a while ive got to do everything else first...

im changing the rubber on the front bonnet pins from damper bushes to heater hose its much much better.

The reason I asked........... ^_^ is because the ones that I have the at the moment don't fit snuggly against the front wings. As for paintable, some plastics don't take well to paint :withstupid:

Thanks for taking the time to reply :P

if you key the surface well and use a decent primer im sure you can paint them no trouble.

where did you get the arches from? maybe they are just a poor copy? could you not run a rubber strip between the wing and the arch to take up the gap?

Well mine are fiberglass ones from MiniSpares. I didn't really do much/anything to mine as i needed them on for the mot, so have yet to paint them, and sand/fit them properly.

They came with the car when bought. I like the way you had shown your setup and the external fixing of them, hence posing the question in your thread. What is the difference to the group 5 and the euros, you did mention about them curving in at the front but as much as I have searched on here and the mini shops, I can't find decent pics showing the difference.

Any way, thanks for your help.

Its the bit right at the front, on mine they just keep going straight forward, where on euros they curve around the body so there isnt a gap.
(if this pic doesnt work then ill have to find another)

ive been given an oppertunity by a mate that has certainly got me thinking.

he crashed his rover 216 last wednesday, he was doing about 5 mph wheels locked up and he went into the back of someone, he wants rid of the car basically.

he said i could have the whole car for the reasonble price of £400 but i reckon i could haggle him down a bit.

so my mind has gone all kseries. ive been reading religously through the rover topics on 16v.

he said the car wont be going anywhere till may so ive got a few months to finish my project and decide whther or not to do it.

also hopefully by this time 16vminishop would start offereing the Kframes (saw a pot on here t'other day about it) i think they'll be about £800 ish but no more.

ooooooo what should i do?!?! any suggestions advice.

J
