Had some problems with my other manifold so I got the minispares "torquemaster" manifold to use instead and I cannot tighten the innter two nuts, access is fouled by the manifold, either with the short or long brass nuts!

The socket fouls against the manifold - using a shot nut and a "wobble" extension I could start to tighten it but it also locked the socket itself against the manifold.

This seems like a design oversight on something they claim to sell 900+ of a year. The other manifold I had was at least easy to get off and on.

Also I would like to add that the stud holes for the carb were not straight at all and I had to waller out my spacer a bunch to get it to fit. This is not the first time I've had quality problems with a minispares item recently. I'm glad they make just about everything but in general I don't mind paying more if it means the quality is there, I'd rather not spend my time fettling to make new parts fit!

Have you compared the thickness of the inlet and exhaust manifold faces? You might need stepped washers.

You normally need 1/4" drive sockets with a wobble joint and extension for those bad boys, cheapo thin wall sockets are good if you have any, also cutting off the lower tangs/ears on the manifold helps alot as you can have the fat, spring washer and nut engaged onto the stud, then just slide the manifold into position, a couple of turns with the aforementioned socket does the job.

Crikey, I thought they changed the design a long time ago.

A real bad piece of design really as there is enough meat there to mill out some clearance which is what I did on the last one.

I used to have torquemaster inlet, and the only way I could do the inner ones up was with a spanner

I have 1/4 inch

its not the flanges, those are actually pretty good, its the intake runner itself.

I might have to sacrifice a spanner and shorten it then

I use 1/4" Drive Sockets and a 13 mm socket here, just gives that extra bit of movement and is easier to get the socket off when done up.

No help here, but for my own car, I made some very long nuts, you can do them with a spanner.

Thanks! This actually worked somehow with my wobble extension, had to put the long nuts on other studs and use the shorter brass but its on now.

Those studs not being straight though.. Had to file my abutment plate and spacer to get them on.

Now its leaking where the hoses go for some reason. Oh boy.
