Suspect I know the answer but just in case here goes....
I have just replaced the rear brakes (Minispares pre-assembled back plates). Obviously this required removal of the hub. I did not remove the bearings from the casing - just slid them off and placed them on the floor.
There was noticeably less grease in the offside but it was not dry. When reassembling the offside I slid the hub back on but when fastening up the hub nut it goes past the hole for the split pin by a couple of threads/mm - I did not recall that when I removed it but admit it could have been. The near side was fine and hole was within the body of the hub nut.
The hub nut is tight and the hub still spins (probably not quite as nice and free as the other side) but not binding and I have put the split pin back in. There does not feel to be any play.
Is this just one of those Mini things or a worn bearing - or something else.
Thanks
