I recently acquired a heritage certificate for this mk 2 that I’m restoring. It’s a Canadian mini - The dispatch date is listed as january 6 1969, and the date built January 1 1969. Would the plant not be closed for holiday on New Year’s Day? Else, Of the workers that built this mini, I wonder how many were were hung over..

Google tells me that:

1st January 1969 was not a bank holiday in the UK, as New Year's Day was not made a bank holiday until 1974.

Every day is a school day!

I remember when they finally made New Years Day officially a bank holiday in 1974....before that a lot of workers used to phone in sick anyway, usually due to a hangover from the night before!
