Hello,

Just getting a classic mini ('78 Morris Mini 1000) back on the road again after 20 years.

It has all standard components, so no adjustment in suspension arms etc, and nothing in the rear. The only adjustment is the rod ends on the steering rack.

The 'Repair Certifier' who is a step in the process here of getting the mini back on the road again, requires me to get an alignment done prior to him doing his checks, just to see what the values are.

However, does anyone know what the standard values 'should' be?

If they are not 'in spec' anymore... assuming they ever were from factory, I am not sure what can be done - considering there is only adjustable toe in/out from the track rod ends...

Anyone have any idea?

All standard / original arms, just had new bushings, bearings, pins, rubbers, joints, cones, shocks etc put in the original upper/lower, rear arms, hubs etc, but its otherwise all standard hardware.

Thanks

Haynes has the following.
But what are the chances of this being 'in spec' I wonder...

The owner's manual for my 1979 Mini 1000 says the same thing, so I'm pretty sure that is the correct number.

Sounds like you need to find a friendly tester at a small garage. One who has the old manual gauges, rather than one where you get a computer-says printed output that can't be... errrmm... 'interpreted' as it's written out on a report sheet by hand for you.

14 minutes toe out on the front is the correct spec. Around 30 minutes toe in on the rear. I'd avoid using distance measurements like mm as there are multiple different ways it is measured. The manual assumes at a point on the tyre but modern machines base it on a big diameter like 20"

If anything else is out of adjustment it will likely be a worn component. They weren't built as badly as people claim.
