This is a device I have made to overcome an irritating problem on the Mini, but wht is it and what's it for? Answers here or on a postcard. 10 brownie points for the correct answer.

It's to hold a bolt head/nut I'd say.
Maybe engine mounting bolt/nut?

I guess I must have longs arms. I just open and close mine with my hand.

I gave it enough spring tension so it stays put in the position shown.
