Hey guys

I need to do my radius arms - anyone got a reamer tool I can rent or borrow?

I'm based south or Reading, RG7.

Cheers

Alex

I've got the same problem, need to do mine.  £160 mini spares is a lot and they state one tool per car, does that mean that the actual business end is only man enough for two cuts?  Alex perhaps we can split 50/50 if its not?

That's just a quirk of the ordering process software.  The tool is reusable many times. :proud:

I'm in Pembs (nr Narberth) and have a s/h original Churchill 18G588 I picked up on ebay (for which I paid far too much, considering its condition).

It is properly beaten-up - several chips in the cutting edges - but it still did the job fine for me on two cars so far. You're welcome to drop by with the arms and run it through at my workbench.

You should be able to pick up a reamer for £20ish quid, but you'll need a means of centring it. I got a reamer long enough to pass right through the arm  & made up a bush to sit in place of the needle roller. I know others have adapted  a radius arm pin in to an extension for the nose of the reamer to run in the needle bearing.

Just go to a machine shop, they did mine a few years ago both for 40 euros. They did a perfect job!

Thanks guys. Annoying it's so expenive isn't it.

I'll have a think about going halves, but I think a local machine shop may be easier.

This is why I always suggest just buying exchange arms.

Quote from a post I made in 2012: -

"This must be the cheapest Radius Arm Reamer. It's made from a radius arm pin (http://www.minispare...id=36996&title=). Cut of one of the end threaded stub pieces flush then with a cutting disc in your angle grinder cut two grooves in the end lengthways about 1/2 inch long 1/16 deep to make like a cutting tool. Grind back the end to give the 'teeth' a cutting edge. On the other end lock on a couple of nuts, and there you have it. I'm sure you can work out how to use it.

I saw this on an autojumble stall at a Malvern show. The seller had welded a T bar on the end instead of just a couple of nuts. He said he was closing down his motorists accessory shop and he used to hire this out to people."

That's really kind, thanks. How much do you want to do it?

I'll drop you a PM once my new bushes arrive =)

Do you actually need to replace the bushes? In the many I've done over the years it was normally the pin that wore rather than the bush.
