I took the filter box off today and found that the TPS sensor plug wasn't plugged in. My question is what effect would that have on the engine? It started and seemed to run ok without it plugged in

it could be in some form of limp mode. It will run better with tps.

Not sure how would have run well without it plugged in, do you think you could have knocked the connector off during airbox removal?
The TPS tells the ECU how far the throttle is open, so it can assess engine load / speed to set the fueling correctly.

Does it? Some are just a switch I believe. The map sensor handles load.Just my houghts based on non mini efi.It may be used for acceleration enrichment, flood clear and when to go out of closed loop fuelling.Steve..

Can't say for definite that it was knocked off during the air box removal, but would be surprised as they should lock into place
