    Starting My Mini Up

Hi all, newbie here

My relative has a 998cc engine, which I believe to be an Austin A+ series engine with an automatic gearbox, that he found in his storage.

I've always wanted to buy a 1980s mini to restore, but I can only drive an automatic.

So basically, does t anyone know how hard it would be to convert a manual to automatic and what parts I will need?

Many thanks

Aidan

So your relative has an engine with a manual gearbox attached and a separate auto gearbox, but no vehicle?

I believe you can convert manual to auto, the other way round is very difficult apparently. Someone may correct me!

You’d be better off buying a complete auto mini, as hardly anyone wants them, they always seem to be cheaper, as the gearboxes are far from perfect.
