Having recently had my rear floor pan straightened from years of incorrect jacking thanks to people (not me) working on the car I want to keep the floor straight.

The front is easier if to identify if using a jack but not so easy when using a lift.

Where is the best place to put a trolley jack and/or jack stand on the rear of an MPi? Seems like everything bends easily.

I recently got a Mini after many years and was looking this up too...

This video seems very specifically about that subject from Stevestonmotorco:

Hope this helps.

I would use the subframe with some sort of protection vs the body, when possible. All my jacks, stands and lift have protected material on the contact point to help "soften" the impact a bit.

Using the flat part of the rear subframe, provided its solid and not rust, is a strong place.

On the rear of the body, there are 2 "plates" at the rear corners that the factory used to mount the shells to...or locate the shells on a jig. I am sure these were fine for a shell only, but I would not use them for a full car. That was not what they were intended for.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

This is very helpful! I wonder what the factory's official recommendations were on this subject or how dealers lifted the cars back when they were in business and new cars?
