I've been away from minis since about 2009 when I sold my last one - something I have regretted ever since! I think my wife got fed up with me pining over my old minis and surprised me with being able to buy a mini as a 40th birthday present!

So last Friday I collected this lovely City E painted in silk green, 32k miles on the clock and in fantastic condition. In typical mini fashion I broke down on the way home which I have traced to a load of old rubber hose particles blocking the float needle valve.

My plans for this are to tidy up the odd things that need doing (suspension bushes, windscreen seals/fillers and some under bonnet/in boot tidying and paint) and enjoy it over the summer months. I would like to eventually do a few choice modifications whilst keeping the originality as much as possible.

It's good to be back  :D

Your time machine must be parked out of shot. Did Cities get those tail lights in the end? I thought they never had reverse lights, but everything else is so clean & original...

Welcome back to the Mini world! Silk green is such a classic color, and it sounds like you’ve got some fun plans ahead. Enjoy the summer drives and the tinkering—it’s all part of the Mini charm!

As far as I can see, the mini city had no reverse lights but the city E did have them.

It's very original, the main change is that the seats have been recovered front and rear as the original covers were ripped. Luckily I still have the covers so I might see if my mother in law (who is handy with a sewing machine) would be able to make the remnants of the old covers into a blanket or cushion for the back seat. Just to keep some of that original style in the car.

That is a nice looking Mini. It has been well taken care of, the paint looks like new.

Very nice looking Mini, it seems to have been well looked after!

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for it? I ask, as people are always asking for valuations, so it would be interesting to see how the market is at the moment.

Prices seem to be very variable from what I can see!

I've seen a couple of similar age/condition cars advertised between 8 and 10k, looking at ebay sold prices there are a couple of mayfairs that also look to be in similar condition and they went for circa 5.5k. This one was advertised for 6950 and I got it for 6k.

That’s very reasonable indeed, well done!

I’ve been posting about this one, which ive seen advertised for 5 years, which has never sold, as it’s clearly overpriced!
