Just wondering if anyone uses a dab of clutch spline grease when fitting a new clutch? and what grease to use? I have a tin of graphite grease i use on the release bearing plunger perhaps thats good as it doesn't dry out?

The clutch splines should be correctly greased on installation to prevent corrosion and fretting.
If not greased the clutch can sieze rather than slide on the input shaft.
Only lightly grease the spline and clean off any excess to prevent contaminating the friction material.
Not all grease is suitable, it needs to be a high temperature high load grease and indeed the better quality clutch kits come with a sachet for this very purpose, so buy the correct product, it is readily available on the aftermarket.
Be sure to use sparingly and clean off any excess.

I gotta say, in 40+ years, I've never greased any. I feel that with all the dust given off from the friction material, it can't be good on the splines if greased. Never had an issue from fitting them up dry.

I once worked on a pre-war Canadian Float / ski-plane that had operated in subzero conditions.
To warm the engine more quickly, there was a clutch to disengage the propeller from blasting freezing air, and the Manual specified Graphite on the clutch splines.
