Hi all, I've removed my rod type housing from the car, the engine is out so was half way there anyway!

I thought I'd upgrade the gear lever to a KAD quick shift type. As I've got the whole unit on the bench I managed to tap the holes correctly and give the whole thing a clean up.

While still on the bench, new KAD lever installed, its seems quite stiff as if going from 2 to 3 across the housing - assume this is due to the KAD plastic pivot ball  being new and the original seat it sits in worn a bit.

One other thing, more concerning, the lever has a "pull up" collar for reverse, I dont see what this actually does while looking at the underside of the housing with the plate removed. Maybe it will become clear when its all connected back up with engine in place etc.

Yep, I can see now how it works. Still a bit stiff but am sure it will loosen over time.
