I've got a set of old bucket seats that are in fantastic condition but the white vinyl won't match the rest of my cream interior, anyone tried painting/dying vinyl seats before?

Coming from a painters background I appreciate the need for them to be super clean, prep etc but I also can't help but think it'll just chip/rub off!
Kolorbond has been recommended to me, but again, not holding out much hope!

The boy racers used to do it all thr time back in the 80s. If the prep is done properly and the correct product is used, painting was a good solution. Shame I cannot remember the product but it smelt like nail polish remover.

Back in the 1960/70's you could buy vinyl upholstery paint in Halfords. Like many in the 1970's I painted my 1965 Mk1 Minis red interior black to make it look more like the new Mk2 Mini and to match my new black front Corbeau seats at the time. As said above it smelt like nail polish but worked reasonably well on rear seats and door panels that did not get too much wear and tear plus you could always touch in any places where it wore through to the original colour.
